I have this spirituality that is totally alien to most people here but which vibes completely with subcultures elsewhere in the world. Just cause it doesnt click here doesnt mean it doesnt fit anywhere.

By Asante's logic all the food I eat is sacrificed.
I don't believe in it being a spiritual sacrifice if you consume the sacrifice.
Just my opinion though.

Its soulless. The killing is done by a machine, to chickens who are way too young. Even if you dont believe in the God part, there's something to say for doing it yourself.
It was a BEAUTIFUL rooster. We did it ourselves, its, its a choice you know?
We know an actual shepherd and in spring sometimes he brings a lamb and giant rotisserie to bring one of his flock, to us.
Its natural.
I wasn't arguing for slaughter houses or anything. Very much the opposite. I'm pretty well aware of what goes on. The killing is soulless and hands free, but living conditions for livestock is a bigger tragedy. Not that I've done anything to stop it or anything, I'm very much a part of that problem as well - just aware of it being vaguely wrong in my mind. I wouldn't argue that I'm in the right about eating it or anything.
I've worked on some of my extended family's farms when I was younger, during the summers. 12 years to 16 years. Had never known any connection to the animals on my plate before that really. Goat, cows, chickens and deer. They were all raised pretty humanely, goats were milk goats (and milked by hand to boot) and only slaughtered near the end of life. Chickens, ducks and geese were for eggs, and killed only when they stopped laying.
Stuff like that, I think it's better to have an active connection to what you're eating, but that isn't always at all practical for a majority of people either. I certainly don't have that kind of connection to my food right now.
On the topic of God or Gods, I have some gnostic/esoteric beliefs myself. I wouldn't describe myself as religious in the traditional sense though. I'm not sure how animal or even human sacrifice would play out in my own interpretations of spirituality, nothing I've experienced leads me to believe that it's necessary to appease anything. I don't know why a diety might desire a death in a ritual manner, suppose I'm open to hearing you out if you have some knowledge on why it's such a vastly practiced ritual among most older cultures.

It's a matter of semantics really. There aren't many cultures that have slaughtered animals in a ritualistic fashion and not eaten them. At least that I can think of.
Though when I think of sacrifice, I do think it is more giving up comforts and wealth for the greater good - or for anti-materialistic reasons. To test one's willpower so to speak. For a culture that has few animals to sacrifice might have a totally different connotation for a culture where any number of animals could be bought without investing the time or effort in raising and spending time with the animals they are sacrificing.

My God wants the Right Thing to be done in all matters, and the Right Thing is always that which ends up happening, since all actions in the universe are part of and orchestrated by the All Encompassing One.
My dear friend, you cannot tell me what my God wants because you do not know how I define him/her and quite frankly, you don't even believe in him.
You are a judge in this matter, but only the difinitive judge of your own actions as I am of my own and we all are.
Divinity put us all in the drivers seat of our own lives and with it made us a God of our own Universe.
I try to have faith in that a person with such pessimistic views as yours is in charge of an arsenal of firearms, you please have faith that I am a proper captain of the ship of my life also.
If you take God out of the picture, we in an ethical way secured our christmas dinner in a responsible way. Nothing wrong with that, right?
Vegans will probably hate me but, I can live with that.
we all have our choices to make.

in any case these were ruthless, brutal men...
General Tso: 'I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror... Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies!'
Colonel Sanders: 'I remember when I was with Special Forces... seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate some chickens. We left the camp after we had inoculated the chickens for polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there, and they had come and hacked off every inoculated wing. There they were in a pile. A pile of little wings and drumsticks. And I remember... I... I... I cried, I wept like some little bitch. I wanted to tear my teeth out; I didn't know what I wanted to do! And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it... I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought, my God... the genius of that! The genius! The will to do that! Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we, because they could stand that these were not monsters, these were men... trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had chickens, who were filled with love... but they had the strength... the strength... to do that.'

your god sounds like a huge dick if the right thing was one man ordering the deaths of 12 million jews, and let's not forget all the other 'right things' like pol pot, edi amin, the khmer rouge, joseph stalin, etc... and let's not forget all the children that starve every day, those that are brutally beaten and have so many other abuses inflicted on them because it was your god's "right thing"

So yeah.
Jesus Christ forever ended any need for further sacrifices. The sacrifice of His life on the cross is sufficient for all the sins of every man and woman for eternity and when He rose from the dead He conquered hell and death so that you can have the gift of eternal life. All you have to do is ask Him into your heart and life. I'm praying for you Asante! Jesus loves you!

Threads like this are that fucking simple, but no we're... witchdoctors? What?
Edit: Aaaand as i read on i see this thread has died already.
As per "godwins law": Any debate gone on long enough will inevitably devolve to a point that hitler will be brought up. At this point the debate is over and whoever mentioned hitler or ww2 first must accept the loss.
So which one of you fuckers brough hitler into the thread about a fucking chicken cooking genius? SPEAK UP SON!! I DON'T HAVE ALL FUCKING DAY!!

that was what General Tso did in his early ruthless years as a commanding officer. He would make his beef and broccoli with Asians who died in sweatshops, along with meat from his fallen enemies in battle.
