How do you feel towards Death?
    #23889782 - 12/03/16 07:01 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

What are your feelings towards Death, as a life cycle event, as a spirit, as a phase transition, from a spiritual, personal point of view?

Peaceful. There is no permanent death. Only relief from the one that waits for you. In the moment you close your eyes for the final time you write the consequence with intention. If your heart speaks then god will walk for you.

i have a strong feeling that death is just the beginning. i'm somewhat looking forward to it, if only i could know for a fact that there would be no pain involved.

Time is an illusion, the past, present and future already happened.  We have already died, we are just perceiving what has already occurred.

Death is an inevitable part of life, no sense in fearing it, fearing it will only cause negativity in your life.

It is sensible to fear death, that is what keeps us alive, it's instinctual to be scared of death, it's completely natural. Certainly if your death is imminent due to a terminal illness or old age, it is healthiest to come to terms with that and that is not an easy thing to do because it is a part of human nature.

I think it's so easy for people to say 'oh it doesn't bother me' but I bet your bottom dollar if they were faced with their own death right now they'd soon change their tune. When we feel alive and healthy, and especially when we're young, death seems so abstract to us we feel as though it'll never really happen. We're just sort of dimly aware. It isn't tangible. But then you get those moments when you really stop and think about it, that awful sinking pit in your stomach. That's fucking scary.

I have recently been reading a lot about people who have experienced consciousness after they're clinically dead before being revived back to life, and people's experiences seem to differ dramatically, possibly depending on what they believe in when they're alive. However, these 'after death' experiences could just be the brain hallucinating and taking longer than the rest of the body to shut down. Part of me thinks that nobody ever really dies per se, we just keep coming back as different beings, other humans or animals, as everything is so connected, maybe we HAVE to experience life from every different perspective in the world or even universe. I think we just maybe keep going on and on and on, but as totally different beings, from totally different perspectives, if that makes any sense at all. Like you have no memory of your previous self, you just wake up as a new person or a new animal or something, which I think is a pretty cool idea, but also kind of terrifying considering the amount of pain and suffering there is.

I like your post very well put. I never thought much of it and actually spent a lot of my time hating this experience but now as I'm in a weird spot I can't but simply regret wasting so much time. The idea of nothingness rings cold to me. I'm afraid to never see my little brother again.

I've legitimately believed my death was imminent more than once in my life. Yes it's scary, because you're not ready or because of the fact that it's a complete unknown, but ultimately there's nothing you can do about it. I'm more afraid of how I will die than when. It's not really the fear of death anyways. It's the moments leading up to the dice roll that scare you. In the exact moment where you're either going to die or not, there's too much to process to be afraid or at least that is my experience with it.

I hope that when it is my time I'm ready to just let go. If you're prepared to just let go, death wouldn't really be a bad experience.

I am more scared of a half life; car accident >>> c4 spinal cord injury >>> paralysis or stroke. After a bad trip, I felt like I was dying, it was pretty rough, and the best way I can describe it; felt like a black hole ripped open through my internal reality. It felt like a complete psychosis and loss of my reality dipping in and out of consciousness. Wild visual and auditory hallucinations.

My point was...it's easy to speculate that you wouldn't be scared, but if someone was at you right now with a gun to your head, how do you know you wouldn't be shit scared? It would be unnatural not to be shit scared, like going against your natural instinct. Logically, of course, if there is nothing you can do about it, the logical path would be 'to let go' but people don't thrive and survive that way. The adrenaline would start pumping and you'd very likely experience intense fear.

It is what it is. A poem i recently wrote can elaborate a bit more i think:

Fortunate are the dead
Devoid of the voices
Inside of their head...
Their struggle
Has long since passed
Along with the pain
That they had amassed...
No more grief...
No more sorrow...
Such a relief
There is no tomorrow...
Oh, how I envy them
The spirits, so numb
I'll fit right in
When I finally succumb...
Don't get me wrong,
Life can be great
But I'll sing my swan song
If I'm unable to sate...
'Cause it can also be shit,
A deplorable fate
So easy to just quit
And collapse,
Under the weight

My feelings exactly. One is not completely sure of ANYTHING in their lives, except dying. So why be afraid of it? I am afraid of a painful death, but not death itself.

I don't necessarily fear death, but dying itself.  A peaceful way would be ideal.  IDK about having my head cut off (even by guillotine) as I feel like disconnecting the brain stem from spinal cord might short-circuit whatever the death experience is (prevent neurotransmitters from interaction).

I often fear the eternal repercussions of my mistakes, especially the ones that can't be fixed- I often stress out about them and  carry regret around.  I evaluate my life and attempt to accept me for me based on my entire life's experiences, down to my oldest memories- which have shaped both my bad and good side.  I think I've overcome the bad side by acknowledging its exitence and accepting that I wish not to entertain it, but I understand it is there.  Everything the sun shines on casts a shadow.

There is no such thing as death.
I think either the universe or some transcendent other laughs when it hears some human beings think that biological death is the end. That's what your biology wants you to think and your biology will deceive and trick you however it can to keep the organism alive because that's its only job it's not there to make you happy. This is where the ego comes in.

"There is no death.... thinks biological death is the end...."

So do you experience death or not?  Cause experiencing a biological death is not the same as there not being death.  They are mutually inclusive.  Basically, you would have to have a death experience in order to have the biological death occur, whether it is the "end" or not.

The other way as in... you have to have a biological death in order to have a death experience?

No shit, that doesn't mean there is no such thing as death.

No I'm saying you can have a biological death without a death experience.

Are we talking Death, The creature who wields a scythe in a black shaded robe and probably wears a skull headed mask.
I think he is great, and really nice.

On a bit more of a real note.

I think of this "death" as a pyramid.
Your never going to reach the top of the pyramid,
The top of the pyramid is death, and knowledge.
The bottom of the pyramid is life,
The middle of the pyramid is wisdom.
You can have as much life as possible ever imaginable,
But no matter the odds or means, You will never have all the death in the world possible.
To die is to find wisdom, and knowledge,
But to be full of wisdom and knowledge, is the "impossible"
Like the blink of an eye, It never really happens.

I think that the greatest fear is life, Not death.
The fear that we may never find "death" in the present form.
The possibility that we may know more than the means of "death" is completely geometrical. How life can be manipulated to do anything possible in the physical form, But down on a metaphysical level, there is only attachment, and separation. Which makes Connecting to the level of death, the ceasing of life, In the physical form,  inert. It is not real. To be of the level of death, is not even a scale. It does not have any number. Death receives light, but does not emit light back out. Death would than be, the ultimate escape, the mysterious unknowing.

I think death is like, playing with fire, You will get burnt playing with it.

Being declared dead and then coming back to life doesn't mean you have biologically died.

How can you be sure that a biologically dead/decaying human being didn't have a death experience?

Well I don't see how one could physically die without experiencing physical death.  Maybe you could explain it in a logical manner.  This doesn't mean that there isn't a transition from physical reality to an afterlife.  But one would still have to experience the transition of dying/death to get there.

Okay well I did explain it logically I just don't see why you keep insinuating that "death" is physical.

What's the difference between biological death and physical death?

How can you be sure that a biologically dead/decaying human being didn't have a death experience?

Bio-Decomposition of body.
Physical-Soul leaves the body.

Agh it's getting late I'm just trying to get to bed lol.
I never said there was a difference between biological death and physical death, I implied the exact opposite of that with my last response.

In this context "death" is separate from biological death, biological death is physical death. I was referring to death of the consciousness or awareness that a lot of people associate with the word death.

As for your other question I never said you can be sure. If you'r asking how I can be "sure" based on my initial post that was simply a subjective claim that I tired to justify with an objective fact about biology.

You are the one who attempted to differentiate "biological death" from "death"

I said they were inclusive.

If you die "biologically" you experience death since your present state of experience is "biological"

Your physical soul leaving the body occurs during a "death" experience.  That is why "near-death experience" refers to (almost) dying physically and coming back.
