I've been in customer service 50% of my 18 years working, and bonding with my clients however/whenever I can is my favourite part of the role. You didn't mention if you do this in OP...
Practice being really social and chatty IMO!!!

I can feel you with having to be nice and proper around people at all times, haven't worked in a store but a school/institute. I wouldn't recommend weed myself, but if you're OK with smoking or eating it constantly then go ahead. I do believe kratom works for situations like that too, but it has the downside of addiction so I wouldn't recommend that for the long run either.
Have you tried micro/low dosing of harmalas? Or shrooms? Or keeping small amounts of salvia in your gum like chewing tobacco? I feel that if I chew up a small amount, less than a teaspoon, of syrian rue every 3-5 hours I can stay quite calm and nice in most situations. Same thing with extracted alkaloids. Their downside is that one might slowly develop a bit messy emotions, I find if I eat them for over two weeks every day I might get more negative feelings.
In any case, I would say don't do something every single day, just do stuff if it feels like you really need something at exactly that time. And if the stuff you use cloud your mind, steer away from that, the kind of substances that numb your thinking can make your life harder.
A drug free alternative would be strenuous exercise to give you a runners high, couple that with the views on life that George Carlin expressed in his later shows (end of 90s to 2000s) and it might be fun sober. And of course, you need to vent stuff also, try arranging a set day every week with a friend to have a cup of coffee and discuss everything that is shit about your jobs.

SprewellSleeve said: I work in customer service in a supermarket full-time, and I dread it. I used to like working there because of my co-workers and I liked the store, but because of taking so many returns and other crap every day, being confined in a small spot all shift, I'm transferring to produce or grocery first chance I get, even if it's part-time. Cashiering sucks too, but in ways it is better, and you do get to go outside and do carts. That can be dreadfully boring, but customer service is terrible to me. It's not even the annoying customers that get to me, it's just the constant stuff in that one little area forty hours a week.
Is there any tips to make this better aside from going YOLO and telling people off?
Job ideas also welcome.
Man the only way to make customer service bearable is to actually be great t it and take pleasure in it.
You have to think and want to be the best customer service guy ever. Make it your goal to make customers happy. That's the only way you'll like it. Otherwise the job will just suck.
Be the best you can be and eventually you'll discover that it's actually fun

That's the craziest thing I've read all day and yet... I dunno. Does chewing salvia even work? I used a torch lighter years ago because I read it needs a pretty high temperature to activate the chemicals properly. I also used a bong with no water.

Yes, it's used by chewing traditionally. Lots of people call it quidding, research it, it's quite different from smoking. When people do that, they usually keep quite a large amount in their mouth, here I'm talking more about microdosing. A really small amount. I would absolutely not recommend using any big amount of salvia in public ever, but a microdose suits me just fine. It makes concentrating a lot easier for me, almost robotic.
