Grain bag transfer with syringe?
    #23887833 - 12/02/16 02:32 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

I have always used jars, now I have a rye bag with a self closing seal. Could I stick a large cooking/basting syringe into the seal, shoot in some purified water, suck out some mycelium and transfer it to another grain bag?

Is that a thing? I know there are other ways, I have done successful transfers, just wondering about that particular method.

It is possible but you can ruin the water content of your grain. If you just use about 3cc depending on the size of the bag you can suck it back into your syringe and shake the grain bag. The water will be absorbed by the grains if you do not use too much water.

Overall I would not recommend to do this but it is possible.

It would be much better to clone a nice fruit after your first flush.

You could place the entire colonized bag into a blender and fill several syringes from that. Your colonization rates would be very fast, Don't know about the contam ratio though for doing such a thing

Yeah, I think the blender thing would just be begging for contamination.

Blender a little bit of it in a sab for the bag to a half pint blender jar two flame sterilize spoonsful straight in. With sterile water. Ten secondd on the blender and bang pour 20 jars. Risky yes, fun yes, a time killer while waiting for you fruit to spawn yes.
