1st attempt Rez Effect Tek

I'm starting my Rez Effect Tek and as of right now I have 12 1quart jars, silicone, tyvek, WBS, coarse verm, and have ordered my spores from a reputable place. From what I've read once I get the jars colonized fully I should mix them with the field capacity verm at a 1:1 ratio and put into a tub which will be covered and left for 10 days untouched. My first question is.. should I use 1 giant tub for all 12 or should I split it up ? What size shape and color should my tubs be ?

Take the sponsor name off your post, I'd split it 2 tubs with 6 each

You read some outdated TEKs. Rez effect works but there are better methods around. Use the search function for "monotub". Take a look: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20356759 https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17332777

I completely agree but since this is my first time I picked a very easy Tek. Next attempt will be a MonoTub

A mono is pretty easy but if you want to go with rez: Split your 12 quarts to more than one container. Just in case if something goes bad, you have a "backup".

That's what I was thinking. The reason I wanted to try Rez was mostly just to start grasping the methods used. When I do a mono I hope to have a better understanding. What size tubs ?

If you have tubs laying around measure them with water. Fill quart jars with water to try the volume. Your substrate depth should be around 3 - 3.5 inches. (That's what I use).

So essentially each tub should be able to hold 12qt at a depth of 3-3.5in with enough air space for my "My precious" to grow without hitting the lid correct?

If you want to make 2 tubs, yes. You can make 3 small tubs with 4 quarts each. Look around for suitable tubs.

Excellent! Now.. let me ask this. After I Noc my jars they should be kept in a warm 70-80 environment correct? Also should it be kept dark as well? And this same environment is used during incubation of my tubs as well?

65 - 75 is OK. I already let my jars colonize at 60F... Takes some time but it works. You do not have to raise your temperature to 80F. I don't know where you live but it would be very expensive for me to raise the temperature to 80F in December. Daylight is good for mycelium growth. Don't keep them in the dark. The same environment for fruiting, yes.

Ok. Thanks! I guess my plan is to Noc my jars and place them into a sterile clear tub with the lid on to help prevent any contam. Set it somewhere that it will get natural light but not direct light and wait for the jars to colonize. Does that sound about right? When they are about 25% colonized I should do the shake and put them back to fully colonize?

Sounds good. Do not try to shake because corn flour / verm won't be able to shake well. Apply a dry verm layer, like you would with BRF cakes.

Not sure I follow you there? Can you further explain? The way I read was to have 1/4 cup FC verm in the bottom of each jar with the WBS on top and to shake at 25% to stir up the Myc.

Damn I was in the wrong thread with my thoughts. (corn meal as substitute for BRF grow log.) Shake the jars at about 25% or 30%.

Let me correct myself. I made a mistake earlier when I said placing 1/4 cup of Field capacity verm in the bottom of each jar. What I meant to say is one quarter cup of dry verm to soak up any extra moisture in the jars. Is that right?
