An abstract balsa wood sculpture of Plato's Tripartite Soul
    #23880192 - 11/29/16 10:38 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

It's an abstract sculpture of Plato's Tripartite Soul depicting the anatomical functions of a Triune Brain.
These include the rational brain, the emotional heart and the intuitional gut.
An easier way to remember them is as the Neocortex, the Limbic System and the Basal Ganglia.

With respect in values and gratitude for nature there's no need to be defensive because science proves itself.
The humble laptop is a fine example.

I believe in science, evolution and that an anatomical human sentience resides individually within each of us as our brain, spinal cord, heart, gut and nervous system.

I wondered what that was in your other post

didn't quite seem like a venus of willendorf with 3 or more tits

recently came across the holographic model model of mind

Yes, the holographic model is intimately related to the implicate and explicate order of David Bohm.  Check it out, I think you'll find it interesting.

yes interesting
but I wonder if like string theories
some see a problem in finding anything testable or falsifiable in the ideas
in other words: have any experiments been done to test the ideas.

That's the thing, it's still considered a valid interpretation of quantum mechanics, but no one knows which interpretation, out of the several that have been proposed, is correct.  They're all equivalent, mathematically.  So while it is respected by many scientists, it's still just an educated guess.  I find Bohm's approach highly elegant, though, as it can apply to just about every level of reality, even day-to-day life.  The implicate-explicate order idea is a pattern I notice everywhere.  So I feel it has some deep significance.  Ultimately, it's not hard science yet.

Cognitive scientist Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh who works with and studies bonobos says that captive bonobo infants who don't have the Moro reflex are able to use their hands in a far more human way because their brain isn't driven to maintain a constant tense bodily contact as they would in the wild.

Quote:

Frontal release signs of primitive reflexes such as the Moro reflex(infantile clinging to parents) can lead to the development of human behaviours through an inhibitory effect from the neocortex/frontal lobes.

It may not be 100% certainty but it's certainly interesting and thought provoking in my opinion.

Quote:

As mentioned in the introduction, when primitive reflexes are not being suppressed properly they are generally referred to as frontal release signs  (although this may be a misnomer).

Wow! I just ran across a similarity: "in the domain of thinking. It comes from here [pointing to the head], while meditation comes from here [pointing to the chest], what I call the spiritual field of the human being. In the solar plexus, a person’s entire spiritual picture is imprinted."/ Brain, heart and gut.

Based on the description of the Tripartite Soul  at Wiki, we might deduce some 'sudlean' motive, e.g:

"These three parts of the (psyche) also correspond to the three classes of a society. Whether in a city or an individual, (justice) is declared to be the state of the whole in which each part fulfills its function without attempting to interfere in the functions of others.

The function of the (Gut) is to produce and seek pleasure. The function of the (Brain) is to gently rule through the love of learning. The function of the (Heart) is to obey the directions of the (Brain) while ferociously defending the whole from external invasion and internal disorder.

Whether in a city or an individual, (injustice) is the contrary state of the whole, often taking the specific form in which the (Heart) listens instead to the (Gut), while they together either ignore the (Brain) entirely or employ it in their pursuits of pleasure."

  • ID, Ego, Super Ego (Sigmund Freud, Tripartite Personality)

  • Instinctive Gut, Emotional Heart, Rational Brain (Plato, Tripartite Soul)

  • Reptilian Complex, Mammalian Complex, Neomammalian Complex (Paul D.Maclean Tripartite Brain)
