Anyone else been playing this? I started last week and the only thing I have to say is this game is a lot better and more solid than fallout 4. I remember playing it on ps3 and I didnt realize then how good of a game it is. I put about 200 hours in on the ps3 and now that im playing again on the PC I noticed there was a ton of shit I never did before. The replay ability is there.

bethesda rpgs are pretty dull and could benefit greatly from honing key aspects rather than trying to shoe in a bunch of half baked features.

Special addition has updated graphical features. The original skyrim was written in 32 bit engine. The special edition was rebuilt in 64 bit engine.

If you're playing on PC the updated graphics are largely irrelevent since it was already possible to improve upon the graphics engine as far back as early 2012 - and to extents that still surpass what Bethesda has implemented in the cash grab 2016 edition. The only people who benefit here to any extent are console players, and frankly the new version doesn't really look all that spectacular.
While the tactic of lazily remastering old titles is admirable from a business perspective, as nostalgia is a remarkably powerful influence, it is becoming quite tedious from a consumer perspective. We are seeing a diminishing lack of innovation out of the triple-A studios in the current generation of gaming.

Yeah, the 64 bit engine has a lot of appeal if your PC is fairly high-end and you got hit with Windows 10. Oldrim had a cap on how much memory the game could use, meaning that it was not actually possible to make the most of graphical mods. The change to the 64 bit engine solves that issue, so the special edition has greater modding potential than Oldrim.
Apparently the PS4 version is also far more stable now though, which is good given how many issues the PS3 version had. Unfortunately though, Sony's decision with regards to mod support means that PS4 users don't get the Unofficial Skyrim patch, which is unfortunate because even after all this time Bethesda still has not fixed any of the numerous bugs the patch handles -- it's considered pretty much essential to PC, and will likely soon adopt the same status with Xbox.
As you have migrated to PC though, there is a wealth of things available to you. Mod authors are porting work fairly quickly, and in a number of instances Oldrim's mods can be straight installed into the special edition.
Probably wouldn't have bought a copy, but since they gave it to me for free have gladly dove back in. The faster boot up, shorter loading screens, and better support for 2.5k res are all a nice plus. Tried booting up Oldrim to check on something and the wait time to load the game and then the loading screens themselves become downright painful in comparison to the special edition.
Overall pretty satisfied, even if the improvements are marginal. Have already replaced pretty much all the graphics in game with static mesh improvement mod, texture replacers, weather+lighting mods and ENB; however, more than anything though, miss SkyUI -- it's not really functional until the Script Extender is updated, so looking forward to that. Script Extender is the game-changer in terms of getting some of the remaining mods that are still waiting on ports.

Yeah because there totally wasn't hundreds of third party mods dedicated to enhancing the original game's engine basically as heavily as your hardware would permit.
Bethesda hasn't even addressed the insane amount of bugs in their game five years later and they want justify charging for it again. I dunno what that says about the people who buy it, LOL.

Thats what I was thinking. I can't imagine they made it look any better than the mods did.
Still a good game, even if you're right that they could really lean to follow through with their ideas better.

You cant mod a 32 bit engine to be 64. And that is what you are getting at. That there are mods that change the game engine and there is not.

Where do you get your info? Sounds like a bunch of gibberish. If you own skyrim and all the dlc the special edition is free on console and pc. lol

You have a reading comprehension issue, which is most certainly not my problem.

It most certainly is not free to console owners, as was covered extensively by the media prior to its release. Unless this has changed since 10/28.
