The white mold apocalypse or healthy and heavenly mycelium?
    #23881491 - 11/30/16 12:37 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I posted up pics a few weeks ago about burnt rye grains and a new type of contamination. I decided to put that jar aside to see It can produce a flush, if not it's a learning experience. Now I'm witnessing a different kind of mycelium growth in certain jars that doesn't appear to be cobweb mold but some jars have a strange stringy type of mycelium growth. I know I can turn to this wonderful community for information, let me know if there's no hope.

Your grains are way too wet and/or bacterial. Not looking great.

Looks messy, I would personally put these in the garden and let them grow outside.
Not sure what to tell you if it's cold where you live.

You can still get a lot of mushrooms from these, but keep them away from your growing area(s).

As I wrote in your last thread, you have bacterial contaminations. The grain jar should be tossed already.

Picture 7 looks OK. The two last pictures look bacterial contaminated, too.

I am sorry. Try to improve your sterile technique. If you need help, feel free to ask. Post how you do your jars. I am sure there is something that needs to be improved.

Yeah, for what it's worth, the mushroom mycelium on your cakes looks decent to good, but as mentioned above, pic 4 reveals some kind of gray mold contamination. You're not too far from success, but there is something wrong in your technique somewhere.

The grain jars pics are both gross.

Thank you for your replies. I'll start tossing some of these jars away then and hope for the best on the others. I did however purchase a flow hood and some agar Petri dishes maybe advance a step instead of using a spore syringe. I forgot to wipe down jars with alcohol before hand but that's about it.
