6qt Tubs.... Do you pop the colonized sub out or leave in
    #23880962 - 11/30/16 08:46 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

I have seen both methods used but would like to hear the pros and cons of keeping the colonized sub in the 6qt trays and placing in sgfc or take out of the tray and place on top of lid inside sgfc.  Any input is appreciated.

Placing it on top of the lid gives you more fruiting surface area for pins to form, but also results in faster evaporation from the substrate, requiring more misting. What is the depth of the substrate in the tray?

definitely keep it in the tub, otherwise it'd dry out way too fast for you in a sgfc.
fruiting surface doesnt matter that much anyway, a sub only have so much to give and by keeping it in the tub you'll get all your mushrooms on top.
look at the bottle tek, less surface area than a monotub but still way outperforms it!

Thanks for the info... def looks like the majority agree to keeping in the tray from my observations.

Tray FTW. Also if you have multiple, have you considered a mono style fruiting chamber? That's a lot of perlite cover for a sgfc to normally handle.
