that's cool stuff man! The first pic with the star rotated just boggles my mind, nice use of the 'z' plane.

Jinx, dude these are awesome. Keep expanding in a new dimension, you're images are gorgeous and trippy.
I especially like 'mushroomholes 1 and 2'

I like those, especially the abstract volumetric ones I do some 3d art myself. it's fun, but it can also be tedius and time-consuming, so I don't do as much as I'd like to. do you do any animation? what program(s) did you use?

thanx for the encouragement fellas. those abstracts were made w/ Photoshop, Curious Lab's Poser and Corel Bryce. Bryce has a sleek GUI and is a cinch to use, but it is sloooooooowww. i also have 3D Studio Max, Strata 3D and the free learning edition of Maya. but i realized i am going to have to take some classes @ SFAA to grok those. those last 3 were only anti-aliased @ 16 rays per pixel. (max is 256) they were rendered on a G4 Dual 1Ghz networked to Two G4 500s via Bryce Lightning, and the render still took nearly 3 Hours. (?) Bryce also has an amazing animation studio that has intense parameters, but i would need an array of 52 G5 4Ghz XServers to make full-length movies. The Watcher is Center.

holy sh... [insert hysterical laughter] Amazing man... keep playing with the geometry in a 3d space, the first one is amazing. well so is the second one, you've got your niche!

Pretty Cool. I ahve a lot of Bryce 3-D but I am really getting cool with Bryce 5. You should go back a few weeks to a month or so and find my first three bryce 5 images.t hey are awesome.. Golden Dove adn New Brave World Revisited.
have a shroomy New years.
mj
Still I like what you did . I think I will use the glasses and fun plug-ins to get some of the effects you duid. I am still totally illiterate to the bryce byut I did some cool Salvia images a year ago on bryce 3-d.

Very cool, I have only messed with terrains in about 3-4 sets of pictures when first learning Bryce.... This one is just very appealing to me.... I think it is the metalic look with a hint of smooth rust or red-orange lava for shading accent.... The shapes bring it all home.... It reminds me of a "tube agate mixed with a fire agate" (jemstones), but you prolly~ don't know what I am talking about....!?

Out of all of them, this is definately the one I like the best.... The colors bring it all of the abstractness to life....! You have a good eye for colors.... Almost like the colors of soap bubbles, only the material looks thicker like a grey/blue plastic.... I have not Bryced in a little while, and it intrigues me that you got the shapes in your pics from volumetric materials....? I have never seen anything like that....! You NEED to keep developing your volumetric style, it seems to be your nitch, and it is definately good stuff...!
I have only made one pic with a vol-material, and it was a smokey material.... The rendertime was painful (like 2 weeks 24/7 on a dual 866mhz rendered 3900X5700pix).... Yer~ gonna~ have to share your trix about these abstract volume materials with me....! That, or I am gonna~ have to figure it out, cause the effects look pretty damn cool....
Keep em' coming.... Those pics were from almost a year ago, you must have some newer ones than that...!? Get ta~ dancin with Sally, and put some more stuff up....!

hey thanx for the feedback guys, i haven't touched Bryce in 9 months. there are 5 G4s here now, so i think i'll setup a render network. Gimpy - i't great to hear you dig my style, i would gladly trade you tek. those abstracts are volumetric lights and cameras inside or close to volumetric materials i'll try working with those replicates...
