Open car trunks in the rain

This is the second time in this parking lot i've gone and closed a stranger's car trunk because it was open in the pouring rain and they were nowhere around. Then there's been instances where my dad told me my trunk was open in the rain and he closed mine.
The weird thing is I never see car trunks open in sunshine, it's always in the rain
Do you ever see uninhabited cars with the trunks wide open in the rain? If so do you walk by without doing anything like an asshole or do you close it

I never notice it. I would not close one if I saw one.

Well you have to be careful when you see an open trunk, you know someone might come up and push you in there, then boom you wake up and are tied up like princess Leia at Jabba's place, forced into servitude.
I usually try to help people I see, I guess people leave them open when it's raining because they feel rushed to get out of the rain. I saw a guy in a wheelchair and his daughter trying to change a flat during a snow storm last year, I couldn't walk past them without offering my help, ended up changing their tire for them. I usually do little things like that, I can feel it in my chest if I see someone in need of help and I don't try to help them, like I just can't ignore it type thing.
Just don't leave finger prints if you close someones trunk, you know better safe than sorry, there could have been some bad thing in there, and you just left your prints on the trunk, gotta think ahead like that.

It's because it's raining and they forgot to close it because it's raining

It's because the city turned off their water because they got a laid off and they were collecting water. Now some kids are gonna shrivel up like raisins because of your meddling .

Is it possible for you to not turn everything into a commentary on the liberal menace. (And Stop lying - in a lot of cities you can actually get tax credits for collecting rainwater.)
