I'm so sick! (Gastroenteritis)

A Spanish bell pepper brought it on, together with my unbalanced gut flora due to the antibiotics earlier.
Last night in bed, I suddenly started vomiting very forcefully.
It cleared out my stomach, my small intestine and maybe beyond.
I passed almost a bucket of fluids, i'm struggling to keep even water in, I have switched to rice water (cooking white rice in water and drinking the water) Which I do seem to keep in.
BRAT protocol is in full swing. -Bananas -Rice -Applesauce -Toast
Havent vomited in four hours after 15 hours of ralphorama so I think I made it and soon will move to the diarroea stage.
I feel miserable. Fucking antibiotics.
I'm going to very carefully attempt the store, some Yakult probiotics would be just the ticket now.

Drink water enhanced with electrolytes such as Pedialyte, Gatorade, Powerade, or coconut water, especially if you are vomiting or experiencing diarrhea. ... Do not drink fruit juice or milk if you are experiencing gastroenteritis.
Actually thats good advice.

Koods, and indirectly Sheekle, thanks for the tip. That coconut water fell into my stomach like a key into a lock, it immediately felt great, unlike water and fruit juice

Usually G.E. for me comprises of about 12 hours of violent puking, then being queasy and getting the runs for 12 hours, then 12 hours where you're having an anal black friday clearing sale and then you're good, "shaken, not stirred"

Coconut milk can cause severe diarrhea. The water form is different I guess?
Hope you feel better soon too Asante. And fuck you guys are making my stomach hurt. My family just got over a strange stomach bug that cause pretty notable stomach cramping but no runs or pukes or even nausea.

I don't mind the diarroea part of it, its the final process of cleaning the pipes.
I hope the Yakult probiotic will do me good.
Stomach cramping is godawful. Did it dry up your stool?

O.P. : I feel your pain. I've been on anti-biotics for 2 weeks to treat a sketchy looking bite I got while camping. The bottle says may cause diarrhea but I've had the complete opposite problem.
I couldn't even gorge myself at thanksgiving from being so backed up. Worse than opiates.

Its one of those Asante IDGAF solutions but if I'm backed up I plug 10ml sexual lubricant. That helps a lot! Oil works too of course.

Allium sativum (garlic)--a natural antibiotic.

I take fresh Garlic gloves everyday. Everyone got sick here. I felt I was getting sick but it was simply an uncomfortable throat that lasted a day.
Also consider ginger and coconut oil. I wish you a quick recovery, Asante

Wow, I just did an Exorcist impersonation involving split pea soup. Apparently, that is still too spicy to be held in.
Quite gassy, crampy, liquid stools AND the stomach still upset. Eww.

Ah I had that not too long ago. Puked up blood had to go the hospital. It's horrible. Get some prilosec it will lower the acidity in your stomach. Stay away from anything with acid in it. It's incredibly shitty.

I was out for 4 days solid last week with something similar. Nasty stuff. Hope you get well soon Asante.

I think its best to let the body clean its pipes naturally. I could take an anti-emetic and anti diarroea drug but then I would trap inside what my body wants to expel with great priority. Prilosec too, my stomach acidity is a defense mechanism.
No blood thank God, then you SHOULD see a doc right away, just as when it lasts longer than 2 days.
I woke feeling OK, so I spooned in my pills with some applesauce so that that at least would stay in, then maybe later today get more courageous as to food choices. I added an extra blanket to sweat out the fever and this seemed to have worked.
