Favorite psychedelic music?

What do you prefer? The music itself can be trippy or it can just be stuff you enjoy while tripping.
I love psychedelic/ prog rock particularly and have a huge collection of a ton of random intense mind melting stuff
My all time favorite as of now is definitely Eloy though, not only is the music very psychedelic but most of the lyrics are very deep/ inspiring.
Here are a few of my favorites by them:
ELOY 2009 - The Secret
Quote:
How many times we tried in vain to find out who we are and where we go Not able to reveal the secret of our life Still waiting for an answer since so long ago A latent mystery still persists far in eternity Will we ever find a way for us to see Will we ever reach the day we find the key
Will we ever realize The secret of eternity Living in a paradise Somewhere in infinity
From afar a call Reaching our ears Sweeping through our minds Dissipate our fears
Eternal rays of light penetrate the darkness, space and time, lending energy Deep inside we feel a mystic force sent from infinity We wonder why our hearts are pounding, why we breathe, why we feel joy and pain The hidden secret of all life awaiting patiently 'Til the day we finally see it all 'Til the day of revelation just a latent call
Search the meaning of all life It's secret, what it means to be Try beside your worldly strife To unveil a mystery Lost in endless trails of time beyond the night Turn the darkness in our minds Into the brightest light
Will we ever break the seal Of universals secrecy Latent, deep inside we feel It's immortal energy The answer we are longing for since ancient times Guarded by the safe embrace of eternity
We're gliding through the ages since ancient times Scared by uncertain fates In a labyrinth obscured Still blind in the dark Dawning
Dormant forces deep inside Latent and eternally The omnipresent guides To intuitions mystery The heartbeat of all life, rhythms divine Pounding endlessly 'til the end of time
We are prisoners of time Always searching the light in the dark Life and fate predefined in eternity
Follow The Light
Quote:
A glow on the horizon So near and yet so far Rich and vivid sunsets The marker of our time See the light feel its warmth See the glow which fills the sky A light with magic powers Which penetrates my heart A light which wakes my senses That sets my thoughts aflame See the light, feel it's warmth Touch the glow, that fills the mind Is this the twilight of lifetimes gone, before Or is the night now over bringing forth, the dawn...dawn...dawn...dawn...dawn. As in a raging tempest we hear the thunder cry We see the trees fall victim See spears of lightning fly HEAR ME Dream or reality? HEAR ME Is someone calling me? End your bondage new and throw away your chains No more hesitation, now's the time to change Leave the road you're on for there's a better way Be just what you are and let your spirit free Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh The questions without answers Are written on the wall The please of spray can poets Who heeds them when they call? HEAR ME Dream or reality HEAR ME Is someone calling me? End your bondage now and throw away your chains No more hesitation, now's the time to change Leave the road you're on for there's a better way Be just what you are and let your spirit free Follow the light have no fear you won't burn your eyes Follow the light feel it's never ending warmth, it can heal the blind Follow the light have no fear you won't burn your eyes Follow the light it's your future you will realize Follow the light feel it's power feel it in your soul Follow the light it is here, it is there, it is everywhere, everywhere you go
Eloy Reflections From The Spheres Beyond
Quote:
Pulses of sensation - dormant deep inside Steer inspiration - signals from the source of light In times of indecision - a whispering advice The voice of intuition - responding when the spirit cries Confusing mixed emotions - ignite a stirring fight As rational temptations - divert the latent guide The spirit of creation - present in all life Divine perfection - shadowed by all worldly strife Every incarnation - leaves a trace behind But all perception fades when reason rules the mind Through latent and subconscious - behind the spheres beyond Presentimental guidance - still silently responds Waves of energy - from infinity Everlasting celestial infusion Astral light's embrace - sent from timeless space Lending shelter by waking the senses and mind Joy and desperation - essential parts of fate Opposed sensations - supporting waves of love and hate Rhythms of creation - pulsating everywhere Reincarnation - a miracle without compare In everlasting silence - in corridors of time The refuge of existence - in unison with light Waves of energy - from infinity Everlasting celestial infusion Enigmatic rhymes - visionary signs Revelation by fusion of wonders Universal force - rising from the source Leads the spirit to new horizons Astral light's embrace - sent from timeless space Lending shelter by waking the senses and mind Prisoner of time - veiled in darkness and light Discover the sign - find the meaning of life Resist false temptations inside Fill your spirit with pure breath of light Creature on earth - smiling child of the sun Every creation - is a part of the one There's no future, nor present, nor past Mortal life's, but a flare burning fast
-------------------- Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

I've always gotta go for Hendrix, Pink Floyd or Progressive Psytrance Mixes. I also enjoy Flying Lotus sometimes, and I usually flick through Soundcloud to find some good underground beats.

Some of Eloys stuff on Ocean 2 especially really has a floyd like feel to it IMO, some of the riffs just scream Gilmour but with Frank Bornemanns unique touch.
Eloy - The answer
The guitar solo around 5:00 reminds me of Gilmour a ton, it's such a smooth yet epic style of shredding that is very soulful/ powerful.
They also do some similiar female backup singer stuff as on many later Floyd songs/ albums, the choir stuff reminds me of Atom Heart Mother as well.
Here is a shorter song with some more smooth soulful Gilmour like guitar:

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Guthrie is a wizard Definitely one of my favorite guitarists around. Have you listened to his Aristocrats stuff?
The Aristocrats - Boing, We'll Do It Live! Full Concert
The drummer and bassist are both amazing too and they make a killer trio!

Here is some super over the top jazz fusion, it is probably a bit much for most people but damn are they all mind blowing musicians and it is super up beat + mentally stimulating stuff that is great for tripping when the mood is right. This concert actually starts with 1 group T Square named after Madison Square, and partway through another amazing group Dimension comes out and they finish together:
T-Square & Dimension - Live Concert In Korea
T-Square solo part is 0:00 - 19:30 Dimension comes out around 20:10 and that is when it starts getting crazy.
2 Bassists, 2 drummers, 2 guitarists, 2 sax/horn players and 2 keyboardists all on one stage...

They have dual solos for pretty much everyone and they all tear it up, I was beyond impressed when I first saw this. The way they groove with that many people is intense.
Both the guitarists are definitely 2 of my favorites skill/ technique wise. I am surprised their guitars don't burst out in flames partway through

Here is some more intense jazz that is much less upbeat/ cheesy but just as intense:
Tetsuo Sakurai, Dennis Chambers, Greg Howe & Akira Onozuka Gentle Hearts Tour 2004
Akira Onozuka is the keys player for Dimension and Tetsou Sakurai played bass for Casiopea which is another classic asian jazz fusion group.
Casiopea 1979 Full Album
That is their debut album I believe and is all my favorite stuff of theirs, they got much more cheesy in the 80's but still made some great music

If you like more of the extreme music Inquisition are very good while tripping, as well as Woods Of Ypres. Both can create amazing atmospheres and feelings. I always find listening to Inquisition to be an almost raw celestial journey while very high on LSD or mushrooms.

I love psychedelic music of so many sorts: this thread has some greats indeed. Stereolab. Stereolab's vibrations I have found to be especially shroomy. Listening to Stereolab on shrooms may facilitate an extraterrestrial experience.

I know people will totally disagree with me on this, but I still find electronic music to be the trippiest type of music to listen to while under the influence of a psychedelic. I'm not saying its the "best" tho, and I'm also referring to electronic music outside the "EDM" realm. Having said that, I love listening to all kinds of music, from jazz, to traditional folk music, to an assortment of video game music

Gonna re-iterate acid rap here and say that if you don't want to listen to the whole album (even though there's quite a psychedelic storyline if you listen all the way through) the three songs i urge you to listen to at the very least are Acid Rain, NaNa, and Pusha Man

I find rap sounds far too hollow while tripping, I think its because I read into music hard while tripping. On MDMA rap/hip hop is one of my go-to'.

Just can't listen to any Electronic music and rap is plenty electronic and usually a good dose of some demeaning lyrics... that type of shit gets me down...
No offense...I need transcendent music! Anybody ever trip Bowie?... man that stuff is amazing!

This is a personal favorite it's the rehearsal sessions from his 1983 tour. Featuring Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar this s*** is so f****** over the top I mean if you haven't f****** heard this you need to get familiar because this is must listen type s***!
It's called " Dallas moonlight"......

Its interesting how different peoples views on transcendental music is. I have the utmost respect for Bowie and enjoy some of his music but at the end of the day, a lot of the sounds utilized are very similar and I look for something with a more alien tone. Same goes for a lot of older jam, I still love it, but sometimes I wanna hear sounds that I've never heard before.
Nobody would call Pink Floyd electronic music but I think the use of synths and pedals give them a much more varied sound, one thats much more eclectic and certainly more "electronic". It's more layered and textured, and just straight up strange
