Possible Cobweb Mold?

Unfortunately I noticed this morning the first formation of what looks like to be cobweb mold on the casing layer of my grow. If this is the case i was wondering if peroxide would do the trick since its barely formed. Here's a picture of whats going on.

Yes that is Dactylium, it will start off like this then explode with growth.
You can try peroxide, but I've tried it in the past, just slows it down.

Ah well this is quite unfortunate.. Ill give the peroxide a shot, don't want to waste the ovoids..

I would not try to safe it. You have almost no wood colonized by the mycelium you want.
BTW. This is your casing layer? What species are you growing?

It will slow down the cobweb but I doubt it will remove it entirely. Worth a shot if you want to try it.
In the future, to real trick to preventing contams is a good spawn/sub ratio so the uncolonized areas quickly colonize with healthy mycelium, before anything else can take over. Is there colonized spawn just underneath these chips? The ratio seems to be in favor of the substrate.

the casing layer is only about 1 - 1.5 in thick and there is about 2 - 3 in of colonized substrate below, would it be a better idea to remove the contaminated casing layer and just mix fresh chips in the substrate? The species is P. Ovoid

This is sometimes the best method for this species, actually. Find them a nice cozy spot in the shade, under a dense tree or on side of your house that gets most shade etc.
You can also dig them a shallow hole and put them in it with just the surface exposed, this will keep them moist all year and somewhat protected from cold.

This was more of an experiment as I'm have plenty of woodlover mycelium in the garden spread around. I was hoping to fruit this in the off season as i have plenty of spores. I may try to save this grow just for shits and giggles, would replacement of the casing layer solve my issue?

Can anyone circle the Dactylium? I can not spot anything usual, trying to learn how to spot contams.

the Dactylium is located in the second photo as you can see it is colonizing in the very center.

I removed the entire casing layer and mixed in fresh chips with the colonized substrate. Hopefully it will make a recovery in a few days, if no new growth appears ill toss it in the yard. Thanks for the info guys and for the support Tmethyl
