Does this mushroom have a bacterial infection?
    #23874664 - 11/28/16 09:39 AM (8 years, 1 month ago)

Grown on BRF cake using shotgun terrarium. Despite plenty of FAE, I am consistently dealing with water buildup on my aluminum trays and look forward to bulk substrate when I can avoid this problem. Burma strain

Yes it's bacterial blotching. Got any pics of your chamber, and its surroundings?

I can upload a photo of it, but its a tradition SGFC, and grew on a cake that had otherwise perfect mushrooms, some of which I ate and enjoyed quite much.

I read that in the op. Still tho there's things you can do to improve Fae in a sgfc. If the perlite got packed down you can hand rake it to aerate it. Poke out the bottom holes to make sure none are clogged. You can elevate it higher as well, and put it in a much more open room. There's also the idea of cracking a window, and leaving the door open.

Bacterial blotching happens when there's not enough FAE to evaporate the water off the caps, as well as let's the bacteria thrive and spread around when you mist. You need more FAE.

Okay wow, I will go ahead and do all of that. I am operating in a small closet so I will start leaving the door open as much as possible, as well as making sure no holes are plugged.

Good ideas. A closet is far from ideal with the SGFC, but I have seen it done just fine. I would definitely leave that door open at least if I were you. Even better if you can get it in the middle of an open room. That's where they were designed to be
