Oyster troubles (well.. Let's hope not)

Hey guys and gals...
So I cleaned up my terrarium and did a dunk on m oyster cakes. They soaked for 24-25 hours and when it came time to pour off the water, rinse and lightly pat them dry... I noticed this strange almost transparent gelatin looking growth In patches around the cakes. It looked like jello tumors upon handling them under the faucet, they rubbed off with a little bit of rubbing. There were a few spots that looked like the same material but instead of a growth it resembled more of a bruise. I rubbed off as much as I could and for the imbedded bruise looking spots, I simply busted off that side of the cake and discarded it. Is this strange gelatin looking stuff normal in a dunking process for oysters? Did I dunk too long? Possible contaminate? I'm kind of worried... I'm new to oysters and was just starting to get down a d dirty with it all
Also issue two... So I inoculated a cake in a jar with a fatter bottom upon preparing the above jars (can't remove it from jar in other words). Its been sitting out on the counter since I birthed the others. Well upon doing the dunk mentioned above, I decided to scrape off the top verm layer and pour in some water to do an in jar dunk. The water sat in the jar for the same 24-25 hrs and when I opened it up,there was a sizzle like effect, almost if I was opening a beer or can of soda. Some water even sprayed out the lid before it fully was removed. It was hard to tell, but it smelled almost a little fermented. The cake looks fine... Am I being too paranoid about this? Or does this seem unusual? Could it have fermented somehow in just a days time? And how?
I could really use some guidance here. I'm starting to think this grow took a turn for the worse. Does oyster not like being dunked or something? I didn't see anything close to that type of growth on the first dunk... Yet that was closer to 18hrs instead of 24. And I've never seen any sort of a sizzle during a dunk and roll. Wtf?

I have seen the "gelatin" like growth before. If we are talking about the same thing it should go away in a few days while in the FC. I believe it is over hydrated mycelium. It is not the same thing as bacterial slime or slick.
I do not know the exact cause of the gel but I has never given me any problems. Can you post a picture or two so we can make sure it isn't bacteria?
Now the sizzling sound is probabaly excess CO2 from the mycelium. As long as the cakes don't smell bad I wouldn't worry too much.
I looked a little more into the gelatin issue. There was a post by someone whi believe it might be aerial mycelium that turns transparent with excess water. Maybe cut back on the dunk time a little bit next time and see what happens. I still dont think you have an issue.

Thanks a million I believe you're right. Up until now, I have only experience w cube cakes and have never seen anything like this before. No lie, it really freaked me out but yeah I think it was just the whispy and loose mycelial fluff that got water logged. It's crazy how quick it goes jelly like! Well they're in the chamber now and the mycelium is recovering, fluffing up and looking healthy again. I even have a few pin sets coming in, so I'll prob take off the lid and get some air flow going im hoping this flush is more meaty than the last... Where I goofed up and left the lid on the FC for several days into pinning. Everything went super coral like with no shroom heads forming. It looked really alien like. Anyway I'll quit yapping thanks for the post buddy, it made me feel better
Shroom on homie

That is good news to hear they are recovering and that you have pins!!
I would love to see your harvest once you are done. Seeing other peoples work motivates me.
I wish you the best!

Yeah good to hear they recovered from the dunk With your FC, is possible to put more holes in it? If you set it up like RR's SGFC with a shit ton of holes in it and some air flow on the outside I think you will be in business.

I'll post some pics for sure buddy. I'd love to actually
And Marty, I'll give it a go. I currently just have a row of holes along the bottom, close to the perlite layer, and then the lid is off full time... But to keep any flies or whatnot out, I stretched a piece of cheesecloth over it with a string holding it in place. But yeah I'll def put some more holes in there. Oysters really seem to be positively affected by more airflow
