Hedgehog/Hydnum umbilicatum ID help

Habitat: Found in the same environment as Chanterelles, under conifers on the forest floor in the Mount Hood forest.
Gills: Little spikey teeth.
Stem: Sometimes the bottom of the stems get a little bigger, but thinner than the caps. They also have been bruising a bit brown. I would say that the stems are pretty sturdy, although they break of not fiberous, maybe more chalk like.
Cap: very light tan color. Mostly convex, though some are more flattened out. a few have a small hole in the center. not sure if this is an identifying factor, or just due to pests.

Did we find the sought after hedgehogs?
Thanks!

They are Hydnum, I would eat them. They are really good IMO.

Awesome thanks! This is my first Hedgehog find!
Found in a spot with 3 other edible mushrooms really close to each other.
Are all Hydnum edible hedgehogs?

Nope.
The ones you found are great though. I've got a bunch sitting in some soup right now with winter chants and gold chants. Yum.

I once coated H. repandum in duck fat before baking. I'll do it again.

Where do you get duck fat? It's hard to find duck meat in the grocery stores here.
