The Flag Protection Act of 2005 was a proposed United States federal law introduced by Senators Bob Bennett (R-UT) and Hillary Clinton (D-NY). The law would have prohibited burning or otherwise destroying and damaging the US flag with the primary purpose of intimidation or inciting immediate violence. It called for a punishment of one year in jail and a fine of $100,000.
Can someone please cite me the liberal outrage when this happened?

for purpose of intimidation or inciting violence it should be a crime, simply doing it as an expression of your disagreement with your country shouldn't be IMO.

Intimidation and inciting violence are the only reasons it's ever done

Probably won't end up doing either. I personally don't think it matters if you do it at home, but people do it out in public for the sole purpose of trying to stir shit up. I guarantee that a lot of the same people who say it would be unconstitutional of him are the same people who cry about hate speech though and completely ignore when Obama does something similar. . The only people burning the flag are illegals, wannabe communists and the "safe space" kids. Plus...they often do it right in the middle of the street. That should be punishable at least.

Lol, that is laughable.
Last time I checked it was legal and protected under freedom of expression. Not saying we should burn flags but there have been numerous radical American born groups that burned flags, so were just going to send them to Syria?
I thought we were building a wall to keep unwanted Mexican citizens out, while advocating we deport or jail political prisoners.
Burning the flag is a political crime, making them political refuges.
Its actually closer to peaceful protest than marching in the streets. And you'd have to be a fool to believe only illegals burn flags.
But really, if an American got caught burning the flag where are we gonna deport then?

If I go to a store, buy a flag making it privately owned. Take it to my privately owned property and use my privately owned camera to record and upload a video to a privately owned website of me burning my privately owned flag, the government should come in and jail-deport me? For privately expressing myself.
You guys are worse then liberals, crying for a Nanny state cause some scary kids burned a flag.

I think building a giant wall, deporting people who don't look like you, and sentencing a person who burns flags to prison is analogous to having a safe space or therapy dog. What we now associate with the most current radical ideologies are basically whiny bitches.

Flag burning is settled case law. That's not the point. The point is what this kind of tweet reveals about his understanding of individual rights. He clearly thinks being unpatriotic and critical of his government should be punished by kicking the perpetrators out of the county - like he heard that phrase about America "if you don't like it, you can leave." He has said on more than one occasion that people don't have the right to criticize him. He publicly berates the press for simply reporting on the recount effort, and calling him out on his conspiracy theories. This man is dangerous. Add to the potential Muslim registry and complaining about protests and he has shown very little respect for every single right granted by the first amendment.
Tweeting random pronouncements that seem to have come out of nowhere at 4am is NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR. His kind of insecurity and need for praise combined with extreme power is one of the most dangerous political situations imaginable.
I truly cannot believe this person was elected president. It's like the twilight zone.

Lol, that never happens? Alright, but lets say I do it, I'm an American citizen do I get jailed for burning my own private property or deported? Or does this law only apply to illegal citizens, and what if they burn their own fag?
Just pointing out its ludicrous

...I didn't say you should be imprisoned or have citizenship revoked for it. I said it should at least be punishable to be doing it in the middle of the street like the people who actually do this often do. Even said do it at home with your own property. I also didn't say only illegals do it..I said only illegals, communist wannabes and the safe space kids do it. Ya know..the kind of people most other people don't even take seriously because they're often either morons, or in the case of illegals, shouldn't be complaining anyway since they have a place to go back to if they hate it here so much. I mean come on..illegal Mexicans waving the Mexican flag while burning the American flag? Seriously? Go the fuck back home then.

The Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that it was ok for the westboro baptist church to go to soldiers funerals with signs saying the dead soldier is going to hell for being a fag. I seriously doubt they are going to overturn their decision that flag burning is protected speech. The point isn't that trump is going to do it, it is that he thinks he could and that he thinks it's right,
