Panaelous and Two Strains -

After isolating two different isolates on agar and transplanting to jars and with equal shaking, I ended up with two pretty different growths on grain: From A and B would both be equally viable, or should strain A be discarded in favour of B?
Thanks guys

I'm no pro, but what the heck run em both out. Just cause jar A isnt as aggressive of a colonizer, it could be a prolific fruiter or even carry higher potency then jar B.
How many trasfersdid it take you to get an isolate?

It would have been about 2-3 transfers I think. One result looks like this:

Thanks for the tip Pete

That looks like a beautiful dish my friend! Nice work!!
But i think you are referring to a clean culture not an isolate. It takes alot more then two or three transfers to get an isolate...

Thanks for the feedback
With pans it is hard to tell whether there is an isolate, as the sectoring does not seem as obvious as cubes, but you probably have a more seasoned eye. I guess you can never take too many transfers!

I've never seen an isolated Pan culture, but I've seen isolated cubes and many times it takes 20 + transfers to get there, and that's when a seasoned pro is eyeing up and cutting the wedges.
But yeah your right, never enough transfers!

Those grains look pretty starchy to me.. bacterial land mine IMO. It's even harder for it to colonize with pans when it's like that. They prefer drier grains than cubes IME.

I had a couple go bacterial, but so far so good. The Smell is a dead giveaway, but once mixed with poo it is happy. Will try drier next time. Will pans colonise slower if drier, but with lower contam rate in jar?
