Do you happen to live next to a tenniscourt?
These are in fact lost balls, and probably been there for a while looking at the algea growth

im looking for answers not pretending to know everything so if you would like to give a serious explanation as to what your talking about rather then tennis ball algae satire that would be most helpful
thanks

I'd say the first two are L.diffusa because of the hunches / knobs, the last two L.williamsii.
The groupshot is too small for propper ID-ing.
I'm no cactus expert at all.

Me either I've done a good bit of research. I know they say typically look for straight ribs but I have seen Williamsii online the where the ribs were not completely straight. The color looks to be that of Williamsii too me but thats not enough to be sure I don't think.
Appreciate your input I felt similarly and wasn't too sure

Yeah it's really a farce in my opinion to try to identify them by their skin and rib formation
They say that diffusa have a light green and thinner epidermis, whereas williamsii have a ticket and blue grey dermis But fricii are the ones that always fuck with me, I've seen them light green, grey blue and just straight grey They can have straight ribs or diffuse
The only real way to ID the different lophs is by the flower, it will tell you everything. A white flower is diffusa A flower like the one you posted with a pink stripe down the petals and round, broad leaves are williamsii Friccii have more pink petals, sometimes bright fuscia but also can be white Koehresii tend to have white flowers but the petals are often skinny and long with a kind of pointed tip
The broad petals come from northern populations, the skinny from southern Southern locality williamsii often have skinny petals similar to koehresii Northern locality like Texas often look like yours with nice broad petals but they are often shorter, yours has a very large flower with long broad leaves so I'd still say northern locality at least, if not Texas, North Mexico Friccii will have different flowers depending where they are from as well, they are the most varied and interesting species imo

It's hard to tell Trichos appart. Lophos are even harder to identify at younger ages I guess.
So I didn't even know about these -koehresii and -friccii varieties.
