don't worry about the addiction either..soon enough you'll be able to kill any monster in the game by smacking it with a stick and it will cease to be entertaining...i'm not sure if thats the reason i never beat it, or if it was the fact that it takes 100 hours of gameplay (not counting the side missions) to complete it..

YOU FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shroomism you just signed a contract with Elder Scrolls to devote many, many hours (months, weeks, all-nighters) playing Morrowind. I can't believe you. Let the addiction begin, and no, it will not reside anytime soon. Wait until you get the special items from special missions... such as the Daedric Crescent... or even the useless fork! What about M'aik (sp.) the Liar or the mudcrab with 50,000 money?

Morrowind is a damn good game. Not nearly as good as its predecessors though... Arena and Daggerfall. As primitive as they may be these days, I remember playing Arena when I was 12? or so years old, and that shit is plain QUALITY. Then Daggerfall... oh boy... it came out and had tons of bugs... got patched 5 times and still had tons of bugs... but I can't remember a more immersive environment for its time. I loved that game. Morrowind is awesome though. I 'did' wait for it for 6.5 years (since 1996-1997), and thought it could have been better for that amount of waiting, but overall I still think its a fun, solid game.

The game is cool and immersive, all the good RPG stuff. But it's too damn slow for me. Like, running and stuff. You run soooooo slow.
Ultima Online, now there's a good game. Best game ever made imo. You had to have played it 96-98 to really experience it.

Is that an MMORPG? If so watch out!! I played everquest for the ps2 for about four months literally all day every day. I lost jobs because of that damn game! The addiction will subside only when you look back and realize that you have thrown away the entire past few months of your life! It became hard for me to talk to people irl because the only communication I did was in a little text box in the lower right hand corner of my screen. That was the last of many RPGs I have ever been into, starting way back with zelda for the super nintendo. Now I play SOCOM 2 , still addictive but not quite as addictive, but lots of fun and I can at least quit at any time, i.e. when company comes over, for a TV show, to go out, etc. Maybe when I'm 65 and retired and MMORPGs have evolved into something way beyond what we can imagine today, then I will let myself get sucked in again. FYI my character was an elf cleric. He was a mountain elf (not a wood elf) although the game didn't really differentiate between the two other than the starting city.

I know where u are coming from oggleman. I played Anarchy online(MMORPG) for 1,5 years. It really messed up my life. I didnt skip work, but alot of school and lied to my girlfriend so i could play. Polygons on the screen instead of sex?!? Omg wtf was wrong with me lol. Now they are making a new expansion pack.........I see.....my.....life slipping away

I played Asheron's Call for 3 years, still one of the best mmorpg's IMO. There is a free trial for the mmorpg called HORIZONS, worth a look if you like them. Especially if you have a half decent graphics card

It's worse then just 100+ hours of gametime.. I got the quadruple cd set.. including morrowind, tribunal, bloodmoon, and construct your own landscape and towns and shit. So I suspect it should provide many many hours of boredom killing material, though I can control my addiction.
The one game I used to be severely addicted to was dragonrealms.... a text based mmorpg, I first started when it was in beta, sometime in 95.. it was free then.. I spent I dont know how many thousands of hours advancing in that game, and then they started charging for it.. I played for about three more years and eventually quit against my will when the funds ran too low..since I had three accounts. You people are making me want to join again..argghhhh

Asheron's Call was ... addicting; its like the game developers made the premade classes shitty to encourage people to make new characters.

heh.. I found a loophole.. set speed and acrobatics to 500 in the console now I can run and jump to anywhere on the map in under 30 seconds hey I also set sneak and a bunch of stuff to 500.. so I'm the super thief heh Already more then halfway through the main quest and I've only been playing an hour or so each day

You can make the game really psychedelic with a bit of tweaking. Get the mods "Modman's Window Lights 2.0" and "Realistic Colour Config for Morrowind" Then open up the morrowind.ini file and make these changes.
uselinear=1 change to 0 usequadratic=0 change to 1
Come night time theres glowing lights everywhere and even the occasional fractal. Makes it incredible to play while tripping.
My favorite guy is a dark elf sniper with gear I made myself. Right now he has camo dark brotherhood armour with matching cloak and a camo crossbow with a scope.
