During a night of hard tripping, I settled down to a couple of glasses of Absinthe. It mixes instantly and is like nothing I have ever tasted. This stuff rocks. Breath is minty fresh and it is so relaxing. Anyone else tried it? Libs are just insane and sometimes I need something to take the edger off.Check it outLINK

A friend of mine went to Morocco and brought some back - I had half a shot and felt really high but wasn't tired/drowsy at all - it was awesome. I don't doubt that if I had several full shots I would have been seeing shit (as they say you would)

Effects are mild but noticable... similar to drinking weed and vodca I imagine... but absinthe tastes better.

I know a guy who's favorite drink is absinthe. He's drank a whole bottle in a night before. Savage.

Yep, I've gone the downing full bottles of absinth with a friend before... you certainly get some psycho-active effects... the problem, however, is that once you drink a half a bottle of absinth, you are so damn drunk that you can't really pay attention to any hallucinations... everything just kinda spins around. Definitely a fun drink, but be careful... with the whole sugar/water mix, it can go down REALLY easily, and the next thing you know you might be puking up bright green shit... with little fairies dancing in your peripheral vision, laughing!

I think Van Gogh went crazy from eating his paints. I think they were lead-based. I'm not entirely sure, though.

I think Van Goughe was born crazy. I think we all were. Absinthe is bad ass even if it does make you crazy. Don't you think you should try some.

Around the turn of the 20th century... people started mass producing absinthe. They used false flavorings, chemicals to replace the wormwood effects, and metals (think lead... or some other evil metal) to make it cloud when water was added (an absinthe trademark).
People started getting sick from this mass produced concoction, hallucinating and even going crazy. This mass produced absinthe was literally poisoning them.
Absinthe was outlawed almost globally in the 1920's or '30's.
Since then, it has been discovered, old school, herbal, distilled absinthe is safe to consume. It is also, quite tasty.
That said, chronic wormwood injestion can be harmful.
As for Vincent... don't blame absinthe... the dude cut off his ear and sent it to his girlfriend! Blame his parents!

Im sorry, but anyone who knows anythign about absinthe knows that you dont get hallunications from absinthe - and that the main so-called active ingrediant 'thujone' has little psychoactive effect at the dosage provided in even the very strongest mashes of absinthe. Either yours was spiked with acid, or your living in a fantasy world Krishna,...Secondly unless your absinthe was bought from Spain, Switzerland, C.Slovakia, or the third world i doubt it contains more than 5-10 mls per litre of any substance other than alcohol that would have an affect on you.

Like any drink, you drink it 'cause it tastes good. If you don't like the flavor, the effects of the thujone are not worth it. Very subtle. And... if you get the right brand, very tasty. Undistilled absinthe does not taste very good at all.

I lost a portion of my life to absinthe. It wasn't hallucinogenic but I one night last Summer has vanished from my memory due to 3-4 glasses.

Well my world is a bit fantasy like, but not so much... I've drunk absinth on a few occasions, some of it was from Chech (how do you spell that?), from a friend of mine who is from Prague, and some of it was from Latvia... I can't find the bottles around (I saved one of them as a candle holder) but will search for them to see if it lists the ingredients and their concentrations. As for hallucinating... well, while there were no super noticeable hallucinations as I've experienced on acid or shrooms, there was a definite "tripping" feeling to the absinth experience that was substantially different than just drinking hard liquors. As I said, by the time you get to this feeling you are so drunk that it's not really "tripping" as much as it is being really drunk and experiencing some mild psychedelic effects. Where have you read that absinth has no hallucinogenic effects? I'm certainly not implying that drinking absinth is at all like any other hallucinogen, or that it is even "psychedelic" or whatever, but it was noticeably different than just drinking spirits. anyhow, only love to be spread... PM me a link if you have one about wormwood not having any psycho-active properties, I'd really like to check that out.
