Can they just be kept out in the open on a table or shelf at room temperature?
Or do they need to be kept in a plastic container/mini monotub style with holes taped off with duct tape?
Am just using the pastyplate tek first time around using glad mini rounds

I stick em wherever. Never heard of anybody keeping them in a mono, there's no reason to.

I keep mine on my coffee table. Treat em like you would a jar of spawn, keep em dry and between 70-80f and you're good.

Agree with this.
Some more scientific folks keep them in a special petri dish 'cabinet' type deal which keeps the temperatures from fluctuating even 1 degree, which prevents them from getting condensation and maintains perfect growing temps. But none of that is necessary.

Thanks now that we are on the conversation of condensation. I used the pastyplate tek using the mini rounds and since they came out of the pressure cooker they have had condensation on the insides of them is this ok? Will it eventually disaepate?

That is not a good thing to do to your fungi friends, they are living organisms and they need air to survive .)

Also just ordered a sleeve of proper petri dishes. in the RR Let's grow mushroom videos it shows him using some kind of empty whiskey bottle with a 1/4 hole drilled in the lid and then a synthetic filter disk cut to fit in the cap.
I'm assuming it's ok to just use poly fill and stuff that into the cap instead? Or could I even just leave the cap off completely and just stuff the neck of the bottle with polyfill?

It is fine, it's just annoying. It can prevent you from seeing your culture clearly.
It will dissipate and reappear over and over if the temps keep fluctuating. Never a big deal imo.

Ok cool thanks. I asked the following question above any ideas :

Bad forum manners to ask a question twice, especially when you just posted it a little bit ago.
A filter is a filter, polyfil included

Some people don't trust polyfill for some reason. It is very cheap and effective IME. Does not look beautiful but it works like a charm. If I don't have .22 filter stickers around I like to use polyfill.

Ok but just to confirm can I just stuff the opening of the bottle as opposed to stuffing the cap for the bottle with the polyfill? Obviously I would put foil over the top of that.

That should work. Stuff it tight + aluminum foil.
