I have read this whole thread and while I can indeed prep grains this way, I still don't know how to make "antibacterial grains" as the title suggests....

Testing we have logged so far: here, here and here. I am not using starch in my testing, both katbusa and Mycolorado are using ME. I did some additional testing with ratios, enrichments, and Ph. Data was highly conclusive after the Ph testing.
The correct ratio required to infuse materials with antibacterial effects was established.

I've looked through those threads several times now but I still cant find the pics of colonizing grains or any mushrooms growing, could you perhaps help me and show the direct link? I'm feeling kinda dumb over here..

Give me some time and I will log some hard testing. I've not logged any of my light testing. My current focus is on cleaning several samples I have, so bare with me, sorry.

I have 4 small containers and 1kg of rye, I can do PC vs Microwave, 2 covered 2 uncovered. I can also do enriched, Ph changed and so on, all recipe's tea infused.
Can start sometime next week, probably closer to Friday.

if you wanna show the antibacterial properties of the tea rather do some with tea some without tea. only change 1 vector at a time, dont start messing with ph,microwaves and all that stuff at once.
It'd be cool if you could take samples of bacterial cultures put to tea-grains and regular grains and show how the tea helps rid the bacteria.
that's the point of this thread, right? If I'm not completely mistaken?

Indeed. First point taken, will do. I will have to assemble something for the bacteria cultivation. I can try and isolate some bacillus cereus from grains, bear with me then.

you dont really need to do that, just squirt a good 1/2 - 1 cc from a spore syringe to an agar plate and you'll be sure to get at least some bacteria.
I mean, you have done this yourself and seen bacteria disappear once put to grains right? since you've already made the thread and posted the howto? or is this just guesswork based off a theory?

I made up 4 plates with Tea/PDA mixture to see what happens myself...I have some transfers from contamed plates and I will see if it cleans them up or what?

I used infected spawn, it doesn't disappear alone, but it does stall and stay that way, mycelium over grow it.

Yes it will, allow it to grow out and take a transfer to normal agar, to verify.

Is some more detailed evidence supporting ferather. I am still a little skeptical of the antibiotic properties lasting through the PC but green tea would be the way to go.

I'm goin to test this theory in a week or so...I will post results of tea soaked grains-vs-water soaked grains...because I am curious myself

I've just added spent tea bags cut open in the past to grains as a nitrogen boost. Doesn't hurt anything.
If you want to test the theory make his tea agar and a controlled agar. Get two sterilized qtips. Stick them in your moth and apply to the two different agars.
If his theory is correct than your tea agar will have less bacteria growth.
Green tea is more antibacterial than black. I am not sure why his teks are for black compared to green

I can do that later tonight... I have to make a couple transfers anyway and already made up plates with/without tea so, I'll sterilize some q-tips when I sterilize my x-acto knife.. And we'll see what happens
