So is this something you theorized while blazing a fatty, or do you have scienfific data and experiential evidence to back this up? My balls itched like a mother fucker one time, so I dipped them in hot tea, and blamo, no more ball itch. Thank you tea for solving all my life problems.

Sorry this write up is for the soak, you soak as normal, then pressure cook as normal.

Munchauzen said: Black tea is also antifungal.
The fungicide present in tea is also produced by mycelium to reduce sporulation.

Leftfield420 said: Is there slower growth with tea soaked grains? as stated with the tea agar I read about earlier?
There will be a small difference in speed with a high starch ratio.

mushboy said: So you use this tea water for your grains and such?
Does anti fungal proprieties of black tea translate at all to cubes? or edibles? I dont know the science of it at all.
The same across the board for all commonly grown types, both active and non-active.

r.lutece said: Another question: if the tea is fungicidal enough to prevent mold spores from germinating, is it something you could consider misting with as opposed to regular water? Or dunking?
You could try that, and the casing with added tea idea is looking clever.

But that logic wouldn't making lc with malt and tea if knocked up by agar be unstoppable. This idea with grain makes sense. Next batch for sure

I first thought he was using lime cus tea water was alkaline, but it seems tea is actually acidic.

Ph will be too low, which will reduce growth speed and cause breakdown on grains. Lime is also considered lightly antibacterial, so more to boot.

More to note, going over Ph 6 will destabilize the active antibacterial ingredients. Cooked rice Ph is 6.2 - 6.8, so Ph 6 - 6.2 is perfect across the board.
I live in a hard water area, and my water Ph is 8.2 - 8.4. You will need to balance Ph manually, sorry.

Technically you would absorb more in the middle of the grain, any cooking will reduce the effects. To answer, yes it will still work, as long as the end result suits its intended purpose.

Well my advice would be make 1 or 2 small samples to play with on the side. You could even throw the tea leaves in for a bit of extra looseness.
A digital Ph pen is about £6, check Amazon or eBay.

36 Natural Alternatives for Infection, some listed are very cheap and easy to obtain. I suggest the agar test method and Ph 6 - 6.4 via lime not gypsum.

I'd love to see some more info on this. No matter what I do I always seem to have a little bacteria in my spawn. I can't see it but it makes my jars smell a little musty
