500g: Boiling hot water, 12g: Black tea. You will also need lime powder.
Make the tea as normal, squeeze using a fork for 5 minutes. Microwave for 2 minutes and repeat both processes.
Add powdered lime up to Ph 6, no higher. Cooked rice Ph is around 6.2 - 6.8.

Soak and then cook.

I am curious as to why this works? The black tea and all. Does it add more nutrients or how does the tea make the grains antibacterial? Looks cool just wondering the why and how it works!

Oh no problem feel free to ask away. I am guessing the presence of bacillus cereus in grains is common knowledge? Not that it is an issue if you do not know that. There are 4 active antibacterial ingredients in tea.
Two of which are active against bacillus cereus, and two more to boot.
Catechins, Tannins, Theaflavins, Theanine.

I remember green tea having similar properties, perhaps use both. I'll have to try this

Green tea has also the same properties, however the ratio is different. I haven't tried it though sorry.

Definitely awesome, hadn't thought about adding antibacterial to the soak. Saving this for later.

Myc should still colonize it. Spores just won't germ. Mold will still grow on it, most fungicide prevents spore germination. RR claims to be able to open air colonize grains with fungicide. Do you have any pictures of tubs grown with this method? How do they compare to regular good sterile technique?

Another question: if the tea is fungicidal enough to prevent mold spores from germinating, is it something you could consider misting with as opposed to regular water? Or dunking?
