Gallerina Marginata? Lots of pics. ID please
    #23852337 - 11/20/16 06:17 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat:  Pacific Northwest.  Growing on Mulch.  We have found  P. Cyan. growing in same habitat.

Gills:  Not attached to stems. Blade-like.  Please see photos.

Stem:  Hollow stems.  Same size as P. Cyan.  Meaty.  Did not break easily. Not fragile.

Cap: orange / brown / rust, lightens with age.  Whitish rim along the cap edge.  See photos.

Spore print color:  Partial veil remains on stem after caps open.  Veil is brownish.

Bruising:  None noticed.

Veil:  Partial veil remains on stem after caps open.  All specimens had a veil.  The veil was brown.

Other information:  You'll have to forgive me for not performing a taste test!

I don't believe these are Hypholoma fasciculare (Sulfer tuft)  mushrooms.  We have plenty of those nearby, and these are not them!

Seconded.

They're not wavey caps. Personally, I would not pick them.

Nah, they're Galerina marginata. Tubaria furfuracea doesn't have an annulus.

I don't believe these are tubaria furfuracea because my specimens have a veil attached to the stems whereas tubaria furfuracea do not.    The tubaria furfuracea stems also look much weaker.  These were pretty solid.

They are close.

Thanks!

I tend to agree.  However, the best way to know what to pick is to also know what not to pick.  I was very worried about accidentally picking a Galerina when I first started to pick P. Cyans.  It's nice to have found some up "close and personal" so I know what to avoid.

I was able to harvest 260 grams of dry P. Cyans this season and I'm confident that there wasn't a single galerina in the mix.

Cheers!

I don't think these are T. confragosa.
