Hi. I'm new ? I found this site while searching out some links to the ars moriendi, or "art of holy dying." Saw a number of posts about good books on the spirituality of death, art of dying. I thought I'd contribute another suggested book to the discussion: Living Well & Dying Well: A Sacramental View of Life and Death. The author is MaryEllen O'Brien. The book is beautiful, both visually and with the guidance and spiritual care it offers. It is based on the ars moriendi, but done for our own time. check it out, it's a good addition. Terry

The art of holy dying, eh? Sounds very intriguing...
Basically about taking death as a very meaningful event and embracing it, finding spiritual value in it and everything?
Sounds good to me. Peace.

I wouldn't fear

Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you

"The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" is a good one too.

well Im not sure if the conventional " unfinished buisness" ordeal is true with spirits or not, but it could make sense... Some urge to stay and complete a task , sometimes never gettting done causing the spirit to roam for eternity, in what would could be labeled as a sort of hell. As far as the art of holy dying , I know that knights throughout history practiced chivalric means, so that when they died, it could be justified by the holy or good deeds they completed in life.... to die a peasent working for a warlord was certainly a unholy death and the best burrial you could expect was a mound outside the castle in some desolate plains or wood.

>sometimes never gettting done causing the spirit to roam for eternity -So if I die having sex, my spirit will be going at it for eternity?
>in what would could be labeled as a sort of hell -Maybe for you!
