Kings over pinning?
    #23862253 - 11/23/16 11:52 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

To me looks like they are over pinning.

I'm attempting to fruit out of the bag. I've just cut the top of the bag and closed it back up a little. Not sure if that will be enough airflow. I might the outside of the bag and inside

You waited too long to open it.
I've also found a casing layer helps reduce the Pinset, allowing for less, but LARGE crops.

Is it too late to case those now? I'm going to make some casing for the ones that haven't pinned in the morning

Idk. I'd say yes it's too late.
Recently I started placing a few ice cubes on the king oyster casings to help initiate pinning.

That is a big pinset:thumbup: Some might abort but you will be fine if you get them some FAE, they definatley will not have enough airflow with the top of the bag slightly open. If you have an FC with good FAE put them in there or a tub with the top open.
I cut open my bags as soon as I have pins, but if I case I do it before pins.

Azure, I have actually experienced the opposite with casing as where I get huge pinsets with casing more than without.

Without casing

But in the end with my casing comparisons the non cased with smaller pinsets had better yielding flushes, however the cased did make nice sized mushrooms
Here is cased bags in the front, and non cased in the back

When I start out some eryngii out here soon I want to try some different casings, I was using CVG with those bags.

When I move my bags from incubating I drop the temps to the 50's and it initiates the pinning within 5 days usually. I have had them pin at way higher temps, but cold temps really is what triggers them.

Weird about casing

They do love some chilly weather

I really think maybe a different casing might have different results though, the kings ripped through that coir like candy,

How big would you recommend the pins getting before opening up the bags?

I wait until the majority of pins start showing the little knobs/caps on the top.
