You can definitely make a LC from a live syringe. How viable it is depends upon the age of the live syringe which would likewise answer the rest of your questions. If it's a good source it should be fairly fresh, but you might just have to try to find out. I'm sure it's good for one grow or they'd be out of business, chances are you can stretch it as far as you want however.
LC is not as hardy as colonized grains. Grains are not particularly hardy either. Grains can be exposed to the open air because once they're spawned they'll be growing in the open air anyway. A LC is used for inoculation though and so it must be sterile. It's 'hardy' not unlike grains in that once fully colonized there's nothing left for contaminants to grow on (besides the mycilium), but you will then be bringing all of those contaminants along with you wherever you inoculate. Is there any reason you don't want to get into agar? I love LC, but I would not use it without agar.
edit: I ask about agar bc your question about LC made me think you might not be ready to use one since you do not seem to be aware of the risks. It's very error prone and you can waste a lot of time with it. That syringe -> LC is probably your best option to expand it, no reason to take that to agar since you don't need to clean it up, but I'd hate to see you make a mistake and end up with a bunk LC and agar is a great way to learn the ins and outs of sterile technique.

Thank You!!! I just meant is the process the same with a live syringe compared to a spore syringe, does it follow the same guidelines as a MS syringe, senescence and stuff..
I do work with agar and my sterile technique is fine, i just do not have a source of plates, buying in bulk is probably my best option that i didnt think of..I was thinking of using mini rounds, like pastyplates but just pouring the powdered agar mixture i have from the sponsor, (mini rounds because theyre reusable and glass plates are expensive and id break them)
i have a culture syringe of an edible variety that i dont want to put to agar, its already mycelium (as opposed to spores in an ms syringe for example)
I guess my question is can i expand a culture syringe the same as a spore syringe following the same LC protocol one would for making a LC from an MS syringe?

also, what do you think about the mini rounds thing, buying a bunch of those or buying plastic plates in bulk?

Yes, it should be the exact same. I don't know what mini rounds are but I use standard disposable petris.
