Chronic Insomnia after Mushrooms

As I am writing it is 5:46am, Wednesday. At Saturday 4pm, I took 10 grams of Hollandia (Pyschodelic truffles). Prior to, and during the trip, I imbibed in marijuana. Coming down from the trip, I decided to take some melatonin which resulted in what I can only describe as chronic ego death. Not the nice kind either (which I have experienced before), but rather a ruthless destruction of my ego no less than six times within 3 hours. So, I couldn't sleep.
Day time operations were fine and cognitive operations returned to their baseline. The second night I found myself able to snap out of the ego-death come-on which occurred five times. The third night I managed to sleep 10 hours, but still encountered no less than three come-ons to ego-death. This night, however, I took a melatonin after waking up from a dazed period of inactivity (I'm not actually sure I was asleep). Bad idea. I experienced a few come-ons and have not been able to sleep since.
I should mention that for the last two nights i have had a beer to aid the sleeping processes. I have found that it aids tremendously. I am hesitant to go to the doctor because in the case that he prescribes anti-psychotics, I could become a vegetable. As I am currently studying engineering, I cannot afford that luxury.
I am worried that I have severely ruined my ability to sleep through chronic insomnia. I can also feel the adverse effects of sleep deprivation. I have not touched marijuana, nor psychedelics since, and do not intend to the later ever again.
Although I experienced an improvement until last night, I am still worried that the effects will persist such that sleep deprivation could become deadly. I have also experienced high anxiety as a result. Does anybody have concrete advice for me? I have taken these same truffles numerous times before and never experienced this.
Thanks,
- MrTrigger.

I think that you're just on edge and still anxious after a stressful trip. Stop taking melatonin if you are reacting badly to it (it's not that effective a sleeping aid anyway in my experience). Eat healthy foods, get some exercise, don't drink caffeine in the evening and don't drink too much alcohol. I'm sure you'll be fine within a week. Obviously I'm not a doctor but I am almost certain that anxiety is the main issue here. Worrying about it can make symptoms appear that don't even exist. Don't worry about it, try to relax and let your brain resettle back to everyday life

Hang in there buddy. PTSD you just had the most stressful experience of your life. A week to a month and you will begin to feel better. I say this from experience in time you will get over it and amazingly enough even want to do it again.

I just read Reality transurfing by Vadim Zeland. You can find the first two volumes on youtube if interested. It speaks about anxiety and panic attacks as the body's too much internal intention or a conflict with it and external intention. To break a trip, to stop anxiety, take action, exercise, move, get the blood flowing.

1:42am Update. Tearing off tights with my teeth.
I used to use Melatonin frequently to good effect, but I bought some Optimum Nutrition Melatonin a few years ago and it actually caused insomnia. My mind would flick through thoughts rapidly. I insisted that it wasn't the Melatonin and took them a good few times with the same result.

Don't take melatonin if you're having a bad reaction to it...

Update:
Last night was fantastic. Slept 8-10 hours. Had two beers with my mates. Brilliant.
Tonight, not so much. Currently 3:58 Had two ego deaths - best described as bleeding into infinity. Had a bit too much to drink. Decided that I needed to drink something to get me through the night. Went overboard. Currently 3:55am. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday. I've given up on sleep tonight. Just going to entertain myself till daylight. Hopefully, by then I will have sobered up a bit. I'll do some work after. The idea is that the accumulated lack of sleep will help me overcome this. Also had a bit of a jog.
