Xanax for dogs.

My dog trembles during thunderstorms and flips shit when I leave the house. Can I buy xanax for dogs online in the same way I can buy antibiotics for fish?

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

No. Take him to the vet. Tell them they have terrible anxiety that's so bad he's inconsolable and keeps the family up. They will probably prescribe him xanax.

Don't think Xanax is that common in vet medicine. I think valium is far more common. I have had two dogs that were thunder-phobic. I have a friend that is a vet and they told me to try Gravol (they gave me the correct dose for the mass of my dogs). You have to get it into them about 20-30mins before the thunder starts, but if you time it right, it does knock back the anxiety by maybe 50% (IMO).

Gravol is benadryl? that's what my dog usually gets. It works.
Though my parents dog, who was a little older, was getting 2mg xanax a night. Could be because he also had bad arthritis and couldn't afford to be up all night.

Nope, Gravol is Dimenhydrinate. Maybe you might know it as dramamine? Benadryl is diphenhydramine hydrochloride.

Ooooh that's a motion sickness drug. Yeah, I was mistaken.
I'd say try both of these options (at different times of course) before trying something like a benzo OP.

This, or you can say your dog can't go on long trips in the car without getting really bad anxiety. Although I'd probably use cookies answer first

I gave my cat 1mg of alprazolam.
Vet prescribed generic xanax for her, in 1mg pills. I looked it up and it seemed like even for a human that's not a starting dose. I'm hoping it wasn't supposed to be .1 mg and someone screwed up somewhere.
She seemed awake and sort of alert, but she was staggering around in circles and seemed like she was drunk. First thing we noticed was when she jumped off the table after eating her breakfast (all of it, instead of half like usual) she fell over. Then proceeded to finish the other cat's breakfast. Then walked over to him and rubbed up against him, usually she avoids him and hisses and smacks him if he gets too close.
Was really worried about her. Didn't know if she was gonna be OK.
Once we were sure she was going to be fine eventually, it was kinda funny watching her.
We could pick her up and cuddle her cradled on her back and she'd be happy, we've never been able to do that. She seemed really disoriented but not really upset most of the time.
She kept walking up to the other cat she usually avoids and he was so fucking confused all morning, it was hilarious. He'd follow her around and watch her from across the room with the most bemused expression. He'd go to attack her like usual, and she wouldn't do anything or she'd just hiss or growl, and he'd stop and be like "wtf is wrong with you, why aren't you hitting me or running??"
She did try and jump on a small table that's her usual perch and missed and hit her neck. Don't think it hurt her though. She did it again later when I was too far away to stop her but I managed to catch her before she hit the floor. After about three hours she was well enough that she managed to jump on the table successfully, though she did fall off a few minutes later by stepping off the edge unintentionally. Landed on her feet, staggered sideways, and fell over.
We watched her for about three and a half hours, by then we were pretty sure she was going to be okay and wouldn't hurt herself, we both had to leave for different things but she's still fine.

Years ago I had a lab, he was dumb as a sack of hammers, great dog though. Anyway, when the tornado sirens went off I would force xannies down his throat if I had them, not a lot though, like .25-.50 at most, he was prepared for death then without a care in the world.

As far as I know the dosages for cats and dogs would be the same if they weighed the same mount

I know my grandmother gives her dog (who weighs probably about 2kg's) 5mg of Diazepam, and it knocks her straight out, so if your dog is a big dog, it could be plausible, but if it's small I'd consider something less potent, or at least equal the dose to something that of Diazepam IMO.

You can get a prescription from a vet. My dog gets 1mg Lorazepam as needed, which thankfully isn't often.

Also OP, thundershirt. Just put a tight fitting shirt or vest around your dog. It does help a little for some dogs

I second thunder shirt. They work!
Some natural/homeopathic options are 'rescue remedy' by Bach or 'happy traveler' by ark naturals.

Also, as much as you want to console your frightened pup, in order to extinguish the behavior you must completely ignore your dog whimpering and trying to climb all over you. It is referred to as negative reinforcement.

Yeah I've had to learn that the hard way. But don't like lock them in a room by themselves. They're freaking out because they think some monster is coming to kill them and their family. If they don't have access to you they'll get more freaked out.

Yes. The dog must see you calm and indifferent to the storm in order to know all is well.
