How do you go about cleaning and sterilizing your used qt jars before you next uses. Would you use a bleach solution, run them through the pc, or just throughly wash them? Or any other methods?

Should be good to thoroughly wash them with soap and water. They'll get sterilized once they're full of grains and in the PC.

Just thoroughly wash em. Anything there will get killed during the grain PC cycle.
I've soaked jars that held mold overnight in a light bleach water till I could wash them, once before. More for peace of mind than necessity.
Edit: yep yep

Cool that's what i was hoping for. I wanna start some pe work on agar, but i don't want unsterile jars wreaking it if i do all the agar work for nothing.

I mostly just rinse out debris, but if there was some nasty molds growing in the jars, I like to spray them out with a garden hose after dumping them outside, and then bring them in and tackle them with some dish soap. (Dishwasher's great too. )

I spit on them and yell at them until they clean themselves.

Right on. Yeah 90% of my jars have NEVER been washed. Haven't had any problems at 15psi for 120 min

Conclusion of the thread: Cleaning is optional. Sterilizing empty jars is pointless.

Clean your jars with soap and water, don't be a dirt bag.
Then the tops I wipe off with isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel.

Save the water since it will be sterilized anyway.
