Only top half of jars colonizing.

About 7 weeks ago, a lizard I know noc'd up 5 quart sized rye jars with Golden Teacher spores from an ms syringe using about 2cc per jar. It turns out that the syrine was contaminated, as myc appeared followed about a week later by spots of mold. I know it was the syringe because I made up a control jar that still shows no signs of contams of any kind. All jars were sterilized @15 psi for 90mins prior to inoculation. Anyways, after a while the myc appeared to overgrow the mold. I couldn't find any more green so I shook the jars up as they were only colonizing up on top. This was about 2 weeks ago. A lot of the myc has recovered but is reluctant to colonize the bottom portion of the jars still, likely due to the presence of hidden contams in the grains there. I read that it may be possible to scoop the healthy myc off the top to salvage it. I know that there are probably some contams in there so it would probably be unsuitable as spawn for bulk sub but I was thinking of just scooping out all the myc I can (about 2.5 qts) and casing this with damp verm to see if I can't fruit it rather than just tossing the jars. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

uhh if they had green at one point then they still have it. toss and try again.
or case and top fruit in the jar but id toss and retry with cleaner inoculent.

that's not salvageable that's toss. the only potential way to salvage that is pouring the grain outside and burying it.

Tell your lizard to post on his own behalf. You saw mold and didn't toss? Bad juju. 2 cc is too much, use a drop.

I think you guys are right, the jars definitely aren't colonizing like they should and I'm not sure why I kept them around as they're not the only jars I prepared. Instead of tossing everything, I wonder if I could extract from the mycelium in 95% ethanol and toss the rest of the grains away. Idk if this is really practical at all but it's just an idea to try to salvage something. Any feedback would be great. Also might it be possible to isolate some healthy mycelium by letting it grow out on agar and cutting and transferring the healthy section into agar or grain?
