Make sure to not reuse tyvek or that the grains don't touch them much. I have had dozens of jars contaminate and go to shit because of my improper tyvek use. Some grains would burst open on the top of the lid hitting the tyvek. Contams would grow through the tyvek to reach to all the mushed up grain. If you see anything on grain buts on your tyvek filters toss em. They have the Capacity to be a huge contamination vector.

awesome thanks for the info.
i was using poly, and tyvek. any ideas on which is best? i also have masking tape which i like to put on top of the holes because when i inoculate through the port, it creates a hole in the tyvek.
2 new pieces of tyvek every time, then my lid with 1 self healing inoculation port sealed on both sides 2 small holes for FAE taped by masking and 2 pieces of foil
should be alright im assuming. i buurned a few grains, shouldn't matter as long as im clean, should it?

I would highly recommend synthetic filter discs. A bulk order will last you your life. Whether you use them whole or cut them into pieces. It's worth every penny.

If you get painters plastic tarp (comes in rolls) you wont get any side or bottom pins. Check out the grow i just did and youll see theres 0. But nice thick lookin mushies and i wouldnt use tyvek mail envolopes anymore. When pc'd it becomes extremely porous on a microscopic level. Mold can easily pass through. But tyvek coveralls is a different kind of tyvek that works great. Polyfill also works great as a lid filter. I wouldnt use them together bc theres no need to. Good luck on the harvest

yes i use coveralls, cuz i also use one when i inoculate in my sab.
i usually use black trash bags as a liner, but ive always used them and wanted to see what happened if i didnt... i wasnt expecting so much FAE all over and even under the tub...
ill be using saran wrap as you can se through it and know when the sub is fully colonized compared to kinda guessing when i have a trash bag.

i was finally able to be soooo muh cleaner. i wore tyvek coveralls and gloves, used alcohol and the whole shabang. i still believe that if i had moved the sub to a larger box, the pins on the side would be able to reach full potential, idk. but on the bright side, i didnt break any off by attempting to do so. not sure why that cap is prematurely opening. because i sprayed to much? i hadn't done much, im reading my mono... sometimes it gets dry though, the winter is a bitch up north.

1 and 4 look kind of sketch. Not very healthy mycelium. What did you start it with? 2 and 3 look p good. Shake them in a few days when fully colonized to make sure they recover.
Try and focus on your grain prep and filter type. Make sure you aren't over cooking your grain or their isn't too much water when you load your jars. Just notice the problems and try to compensate your next run.

update i think its a chemical reaction. i used many hydrocarbons in the buckets i used to hold the coir in...and i also have used plenty of bleach, lysol and alcohol inn the past few days.
only an ounce or a bit more....shitty sad tub. either way, the mush underneath are so large that its pushing the sub upwards at a very steep angle. not sure if you can see it.

Have you ever lined your mono ? it helps a lot to prevent the side pins and the mycelium focuses on pushing the mushrooms through the top only. Might get a better flush out of it and are you using a light ? I recently just started using one about 3 weeks ago and its def worth it and a hella heavy pin set. Those are some monsters though i would def consider cloning some for sure.

nice harvest dude!! i like the pic with the single big shroom and all its minions below him. remember**
side/bottom pinning happens because the micro climate is better than the surface conditions!!
of course im still trying to figure it out.
maybe clone one of those bottom pins? ive never done that. might next time just for shits
