I found these clusters in the semi-shade on a stump. There weathers been around 78 in the day.
Im not familiar with what exactly to look for to properly id these. Anyone know if gyms grow in South Florida?

They may be a Gymnopilus sp., but telling which from these dried out specimens isn't exactly easy.
Could you check if there are any fresh ones still growing there, and take good close up shots of all features?

I plucked them.
They all pretty much dropped their spores which seems like i rusty color dust.
They now seem naturally cracker dry from baking in the sun- we haven't had rain for a week or so.
They smell like cubes.
Does that help?

Well i can tell you gyms grow in south florida i've found similiar ones to these. Alan Rockefeller said gymnopilus luteocarneus for the similiar ones i've found.
Definitely wait for a second opinion on that.
When i say mine looked similiar i mean very similar gills spore drops and all. But i heard gyms are difficult to identify.

Seems to me G. luteocarneus predominantly grows in California.
OP, if that is a palm tree stump they're growing from, they might be G. palmicola. I see conflicting information regarding psychoactivity.

Yes, it's several palm stumps.
I might just have to wait till it rains good and check the spot a few days later to post some fresh ones

Your best option is Gymnopilus palmicola, tough to say for sure in that state.
