There is no future, no past, no time, the Eternal Now is an actual place, an experience
    #23856221 - 11/22/16 03:27 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Definitely one key to expanding consciousness is totally dissolving any notion of 'future'. The future does not exist and never will. The past was already behind us but now with no arrow of time, it is dimensionless. The present opens up into the realm the notion of 'future' was aiming at. I think of it as being on a infinite train track - you can't leave, you can't go faster, but you can daydream you're doing something else, but meanwhile, the ride goes on. There's no getting "off" the present. Simply one may daydream until delusional, or, we like to call it - "cultured." Like a mirage one day, future and culture disappear as a package. That day, you arrive at your destination; the beginning of the infinite tracks.

Once you experience total bliss, joy and fulfillment in the present, you realise the future is just a means to the present, somewhere, somehow. Why daydream? You have arrived.

Please discuss.

I agree time is an illusion a endless trap of sorts to confuse us I feel I have been closer to the future in the past then iam now . What is the past and future but delusions they simple memories and memory is prone to being wrong. It's a way of focusing our consciousness away from the all into a very specific moment so we can resonate and manifest aphysical vessel  to interact with the physical plane

Do you meet schedules? Ever gone shopping for food; held a job; went to school; met someone at a specific time? Planned anything at all?

Thinking about walking to the fridge gets you nowhere near the cake.

But standing up and actually walking towards the fridge, in fact, does get you the cake.

Or at least,

A piece of cake.

Everybody. It's a birthday cake. But, yeah, a concrete future might not exist, but that does not eliminate motion still taking place. And actions having to effect consequences. We'll still get hungry. The bakery still has to run. Dust will gather, and it'll need to be dusted. Unless we are in a complete and absolute motionless freeze, I don't see why daydreaming or following any dream is perceived to be a sin. The world is meant to be explored, I believe, to make stories and to meet people etc...Why not expand your horizons beyond your front porch?

Why do we tell children to follow their dreams, but as they grow older, label them fools?

At the moment, I'm trying to survive, so, I'm going to put in some good effort to get to a comfortable level. Even then I know nothing is permanent, which is why I think we should continue to work, and dream. It also seems that most of this spirituality stuff is so deeply centred within an individuals own subjective perception we fail to recognize that happiness has a different meaning to different people...So defining and trying to bombard any effort for any individual to follow his desires, which are most likely not even "evil", seems ridiculous, no offence @beforethedawn.

For example, if you like writing, why not write a fucking kickass book? Why not write a book to the best of your abilities? What are you afraid of? If its money and greed you fear, don't you have the choice to decline it? If its pride you are afraid of, can't you be humble? If we're here FOREVER, why not make something beautiful, or contribute something to the world that isn't destructive? Why not try your absolute best? Why not aim high? Are you so distrusting of the person inside of you? Will you lose control and start smashing shit everywhere? I doubt it.

Time exists... we're just on someone else's. When will people learn to accept that simple fact?

think several less than optimal ideas here

"dissolving any notion" is only a necessary resort because you don't admit the existence of paradox - and the consequence is you throw the baby out with the bathwater
you couldn't even walk if you brain wasn't engaged in making unconscious predictions,
and predicitons assume a future. Also the present is obviously not stable but continuously disappearing - denying time is as dualistic - as believing there is a future.
The real way to "expand" conciousness is to get out of dualism and admit paradox.

I'm glad you have experienced great joy. But the belief that you can stay there forever free of all desire, and conflict, given the facts of impermanence seems rather dubious.

it is said enlightenment is NOT the liberation OF the self,
but liberation FROM a self

then the so called truth about so called time, as well as constant bliss don't matter

future is a concept, as are all measurements of time.  Now is not a measurement in this sense.  Now is the closest we have come, thus far, to pin-pointing a state of currency (non-monetarily ) to something that CAN'T ACTUALLY BE PINNED-DOWN.  Now is always.  "Past" is a phrase used to reference memories in application towards the Now.
planning for a "future" is not indicative of a "future."  Similarly, planning for catastrophe is not indicative of catastrophe; and so on.  Forethought takes place in the Now and can only affect a Now.

Based on "past" experience, there will be more Now.  Until the point an individual's Now is not, one can assume the Now will continue.  However, one cannot act outside of the Now.  If one could act outside of the Now, then a past and future could be discerned.

understanding it as a concept is one thing, beholding it for yourself directly as the only thing that Is, is another.

you reveal no new method
to make a big deal of knowing "the truth"
why?

Zen proverb:
"Before Enlightenment chop wood, carry water.  After enlightenment chop wood, carry water."

... expect you all pay your taxes, which you would rather not, to avoid going to jail in the nonexistantfuture, or buy toilet paper, food,  ahead of time so you don't run out, etc.  while you proudly proclaim "the truth' to the 'plebs'.

next up why not explain humility, and ego loss, to the 'plebs'

and no one laughed

which is

even funnier
