ID Request. What do these guys eat?
    #23856188 - 11/22/16 02:43 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat: UK
I found these alongside a field boarderd by deciduous trees.

I would like to know if they are wood lovers as I am concerned they might interfere with a wood chip patch as their quite abundant.

And then theres these guys.

Thank you.

The top ones are Cortinarius and they are toxic.

As maynardjameskeenan already noted, the upper ones are Cortinarius. The lower ones are Laccaria.

Both of those genera are mycorrhizal (symbiotic with nearby trees or shrubs), not saprobes. Your wood chip patch is not a risk from either of those.

Happy mushrooming!
