Hey, you guys, I'm not bashing on consoles. I have a ps3 for red dead, katamari and gran turismo. I just really like strategy games like cities skylines or stellaris, and it just so happens my computer doubles up as a work tool as well.

But we were talking about screens for FPS games, and I think it's due to less eyetravel, which is good for twichy, fast movement FPS games. I used to play a lot of unreal tournament and a small screen is good for that.

Oh gosh, sometimes I wish I had my old CRT. It weighed a ton but I miss those buttery smooth 300FPS days of unreal tournament.

I have a sony triniton television, only inputs are AV/scart, but there's black and white shows that look better on it, and I do remember years ago seeing stuff looping at 100+ FPS and remembering it looked damn near mesmerising.

I always enjoyed playing Halo and such games back in the day on my 32 inch.  Any time I went to a friends place and played on anything bigger than a 40 in I struggled a bit.  Maybe if I always played on a larger screen I would be fine, but seemed to spread out for me.

I wish people could talk about gaming on a console without someone always feeling the need to bring PCs into the conversation. I play both, and consoles definitely have their place.

Sorry, I have to. It's part of my job requirement. Here it was just done in jest and passing
I appreciate consoles too. I grew up on Nintendo and Sega so classic consoles will always have a place in mah heart. It's just for fun man

Yeah for most people. He's talking about twitch gaming (FPS) where split seconds make a big difference, games where reaction speed and accuracy make or break it
Input lag from TVs is a real concern there and is probably what his problem was compared to the smaller monitor.
It's why competitive gamers don't play on TVs. Yeah the average person playing Hello Kitty Island adventure isn't going to notice or be affected by a 50ms response time, but someone playing CS GO will for sure.
Granted it's gotten better with modern TVs and if you have a Sony or Samsung chances are good it has a better response time than most, but it's still not as good as a IPS or TN monitor for that purpose. That's all I'm saying.

just Googled "tv input lag" and found this at CNET: https://www.cnet.com/news/best-low-lag-hdtvs-for-serious-gamers/

CNET is legit and one of my favorite websites ever.

I guess. I'm used to MSlag so I suppose I'd blame it the net without realizing some of it could be the TV.
