TV size matters for Gaming?

Back when I used to play halo, i would always do SO much better on smaller screens, even though i felt like I could play better on 42"+, it was nearly never the case.
My accuracy would be off, my reaction time seemed a lot slower, sniping would be impossible....
So, I am about to go buy a TV for my ps4 but I'm wondering...should I go with like a 22" screen for FPS and smite?
Does anyone else notice this? That FPS and games which require accuracy and reaction time play shittier on bigger TVs or is it just me?

Smaller screens=Faster response time and less lag. That's why fps pros play on their "official 24 in. Moniters". It's probably minimal though I bet some people could do better on a big screen just because of preference

On a larger screen you see more detail and the distance you expect to need to travel as per your eye-hand coordination is different. Basically I'd say it has to do with more distraction and what you're used to.

Your problem has more to do with playing on a TV and console than anything else. TVs, especially larger ones tend to have a shitload of input lag and which definitely effects FPS type games. Playing with a controller doesn't help either But really it's mostly the input lag that will hurt you the most, some TVs it's not uncommon for input lag over 50-120ms...(which is horrendous.. we are talking a half second+ delay from the time you hit a button until the time it registers on screen).. as opposed to a gaming monitor where it will be 5ms or under..most 'gaming monitors' these days have a 2ms or 3ms input lag. Whereas the BEST TV on the market you will get maybe 15-20ms. Not a huge difference, but noticeable enough.. and that's the BEST case scenario.. most TVs have far worse input lag. It varies from TV to TV, but most TVs aren't made with twitch gaming in mind, they focus more on post-processing effects for theater and shit - and input lag suffers greatly as a result. Likely the smaller TV you played on had less input lag.
TL;DR: It's not the size that matters. It's the input lag of the TV.... mostly. Lucky for you.. most TVs don't publish their input lag in the specs!! Then also lucky for you there is these people which did all the hard work and found the lowest input lag HDTVs - http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag
Or just avoid all that nonsense and buy a monitor, which is superior for gaming.

i figured there was definitely some input lag, i can sense it for sure and have to compensate on different TVs...makes sense that larger TVs will have greater input lag.
And, I don't know, I love PC and all, but I feel things are a bit more fair with consoles, at-least everyone is on the same level, frames per second/hardware wise.
And can you play with a mouse keyboard combination on console?

I'm sure it's probably technically feasible for some games but I wouldn't know anything about that #PCMASTERRACE

For single player, small screens are great. You really don't need much...
But you know for that super epic party where you do splitscreen you might want 30 or more inches haha

Look for a TV with a fast refresh rate like 120hz. should help.
Probably just a placebo effect or having a smaller screen to concentrate on

I usually play on a TV. but if I'm getting competitive I will play on a monitor and tend to do a little better. I switch back and forth though if I notice my self not doing as good and just the switch will help improve my game

Smaller screens are what i think is best for competitive gaming. Between 22 and 24 inches.

Yeah the smaller the better for halo at least. I think part of it is you dont have to use your peripherals at all. everything you need to react to is directly in your line of sight.

I've got a 24" and 42" screen, I like the larger one because it's colour rendition and contrast is better than the little one, but with the little one, I can "see" more at one time.
I've put it down to with the little one I don't have to flick my eyes around as much as with the larger one. I'm about 3' away from my screens, sat on a desk. The only FPS I play competatively is Titanfall and some of the time, I do bother to make it so my little screen is the primary, but otherwise, I'm happy with a big screen.

I wish people could talk about gaming on a console without someone always feeling the need to bring PCs into the conversation. I play both, and consoles definitely have their place.
