How would you react if your kid joined Daesh?
    #23855553 - 11/21/16 08:17 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

So one day you come home and find a letter, your kids donned his Burka and flown off to Syria to join Daesh's unholy jihad.
Reaction to your kid becoming a terrorist
You may choose only one
How should society treat someone who changes their mind and returns after becoming involved in such an activity?
You may choose only one

I'd be forgiving. I'd only cut off one hand, the left one even.

The benevolent thing to do would be to let them keep the hand after so they can still slap people with it. Kinda like how zombi3 should have made his toe into a laser pointer or something.

No, and I don't think there should be a coming back from that. Death is the only cure for such illness.

A lot of people come back from it. Maajid Nawaz is a former islamist and cofounded with other former islamists, the Quilliam foundation, a muslim run think tank that ideologically combats islamic extremist ideologies by speaking directly to muslims at risk for radicalization.

We need to learn from these people if we are to understand the forces that lead to radicalization and to prevent it.

Carrot and stick. You only give them the stick when they're on the other side of the fence. You give them the carrot when they come back. If they just got the stick either way they'd have no reason to come back.

I'd think they were the biggest fucking morons, but I'd also be lenient on them since they were obviously brainwashed and too stupid to know anything.

If it turns out they joined because they are sociopaths who want to kill though, then I would never speak to them again.

STAL

if he/she did it while having the sole knowledge that they were doing it to go undercover and sabotage mass killing attempts, then upon discovering this, I would be lenient, perhaps even secretly supportive.

If the reasons are less than heroic, I would abuse any potential trust I had left with them to ensure they are apprehended by the authorities so they can spend a long time in time-out.

That's a big question, they could well be Nigerian by now, Asian or even Polish.

I think its worth considering what they did / didn't do while involved, how many villages they sacked, apostates they stoned, the quality of their shit posts.
