Wudup azur!  Did you ever use sand in your casing for tamp or CN?  If so, did you see a huge difference in fruit production?

No. I rarely fruit tamps. Just use em for stones.
But given where they were originally found, I'd say it sounds like a great idea!

I believe Stonesun mentioned it but didn't go into it...I thought I read you dug those up so wanted to check (is that the case?).  We often find morels in sandy soil and they form sclerotia so was thinking (anecdotally) that sand may be influential/beneficial to stone producing species...

2nd page of that link

i have been experimenting with  sand. the basic idea is that it is inert.
i didn't sterilize/pasteurize my casing at all. so i put the sand down as sort of contam barrier.to keep my substrate separated from my peat/verm casing.

if you guys really want to see someone who mastered exotics take a look
at CaptainFuture 's posts and give a real psilocybe master some credit.:mushroom2:

Kinda cool, good thing i was reminded of this, i wanna try it out for other species too.

Hey azur, when do you like to spawn tamps?  When colonized or after stones have formed?  Does it matter?

What is the best method to get rid of the coir/verm stuck onto the base of your stems?

Also when is the best time to remove it? Prior to dehydration or post?

i find it easier to quickly brush off larger pieces of substrate and just dry them with whats still hanging on.
after the dehydrator the verm/coco just falls off.
