Chiapas cow pie, about to eat
    #23853155 - 11/21/16 01:39 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Am in San Cristobal, Chiapas, Mexico about 7,000 feet

Have a bunch of these that grow in cow pies.  This one photod is a week
old picked, found in a dry cow pie.  It now weights exactly .50 of a gram.  I am guessing its in the Panaeolus family but not sure

Safe to eat?  How to best prepare?

Not Panaeolus, it is a coprinoid species.

It's not toxic but not psychoactive either. I doubt that it has any culinary value.

Thank you for your time Angler fish.  Ill eat it and give a report.  Perhaps there is such thing as a placebo effect with mushrooms haha

Looks to be a dehydrated Panaelous to me, likely not an active Panaeolus, I see no bruising and Panaeolus on dung bruise vibrantly.

Thank you Tmethyl, Will report any effects.  Never have done shrooms.  Have done 5MEODMT though which was amazingly ineffable.

Looking again, possible, yes.

OP, try to take pictures when your find is still fresh.

Ok just chewed it up and swallowed.  Strange taste, not bad but I would not call it tasty either.  Stay tunned!!!  Also check the last post below this one for the other mushroom I found and want to eat.

A waste of time. Even if it was an active species it wouldn't give any effect eating only one.

Hey guys, thanks for bearing with me!  Absolutely nothing happened from eating it.  Shame cause I wanting to try shrooms for depression.  But the good news is that I hired some gardners to search the cow pastures in the area and will pay them for each mushroom they find!!!  I will keep you updated with pics. I know photos of mushrooms after they arw picked are not as good but Ill take good photos.  I did find a thriving jimsonweed tree! Wow , beautiful but deadly as I understand it.  Anyne have any experience with Datura stramonium?  Any positives about it?  I can post photos if desired.

Told you so.

Any particular reason why you can't go hunting the pastures yourself? At least you should make sure they know what
to hunt for so you don't have to pay them for a lot of inactive mushrooms.

I haven't tried Datura, never will. I don't know anybody who tried it that recommends it.

Yea you were right.  It did have a unique taste though, perhaps someday someone will faid a way to prepare this particular type of mushroom in a way people might like.  I am paying people because they work the fields here and they only want 5 centd per mushroom and because they can gather more than me alone and I am curious what they will find vs just me '-)
