Huge pin set. Lots of aborts is this normal? Pics

Ok so this is my first successful attempt at using cased rye. 2 inch of rye with about 3/4 inch casing which I think is a little thick. 50/50 with gypsum calcium carbonate and crushed oyster. Multispore though I'm currently working with agar to get a strain down. The pin set was better than I coulda have expected looked like there was over 500 pins. More than half aborted which I suspected was coming because it was gonna to be super over crowded. Sgfc with perlite cool mist in the room. Light misting from a distance and fanned several times a day. Really was an amazing pinset. Is this normal with such a high pinset? I'm not dissappointed because even with aborts it's still above expectation just wondering if this is normal or if there's anything I could do. So many pins that I think I'm gonna destroy the casing completely after first harvest
Seems like the problem was almost too many pins. The pics don't really show the a aborts but believe me there's more than 50% aborts in there.

The sub could have run out of the amount of water needed to support that flush, make sure your sub is at field capacity.

Ya maybe. I'm pretty sure it was when cased. And I misted at least 6 times a day. I only stopped misting yesterday. I hear misting pins too much causes aborts but casing drying out causes aborts too. What's the sweet spot of too little too much and when is the cutoff?

The sub is cased rye... that's why they are aborting.. the only water it has to use is what was in the rye itself and a little bit from the casing. I've fruited plenty of straight rye trays like that.. that happened a lot.. you can mix the rye with hydrated verm or bulk substrate like horse manure/straw or coir (probably a better option for the beginner) to get bigger fruits and fuller flushes.. I'd move on to at least throwing a handful of pasteurized verm per qt of grain, but it won't colonize like coir will.

Ok so a few questions. I have 68 bags that are at like 98% colonization. Be ready in a day or so. Also I'm done with bags due to high contams and find they're just too much work. I'm currently prepping half gallon jars for next batch. I've done a few grows over the years using pftek. This is my first shot at bulk. And am very happy with results of that tub even with the aborts.
So are you suggesting to add pasteurized verm to the grains after I break them up before casing? Or before colonization in the jars/bags. Also I have enough on my plate already without tracking down horse poo or straw and prepping even more material in large quantities. So something like 10% pasteurized verm added to the grains just before casing? This will help with overall yield? Or coir I guess is easy enough to get. Would I add coir in before colonization of jars or just before casing? And what ratio. Thanks

If you can get coir, I'd use that or a combination of both with coir being the one you add more of. You add it to the grains after colonization when you lay the tray out. Here's a link to a great start... also check out the rest of his 'basics' series in the beginning of the post https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20469910
