Wild mushroom cultivation indoors
    #23851553 - 11/20/16 01:31 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Hey there, this is my first post. I'm curious if anyone has taken baby mushrooms from outdoors and grown them inside? I came across a mushroom patch of what I'm thinking are probably cubensis. I live in the northwest btw. Well I tried them and they delivered so I at least know forsure they are psychedelic. then I went back the next day and dug up a little patch of them, making sure to keep the dirt surrounding them intact and then put them into two separate bowls (pics at the bottom) They've been sitting in my closet for about a week and all I've done is lightly spray them with water once in the morning and once at night. They have grown like 3 times bigger than they were a week ago. I'm wondering what I can do to keep these guys healthy and weather its possible to use these to colonize more mushrooms. Also some of the caps appear dark in spots. It would be nice to know if they look like there doing good in their current state. Any info is a big help!

put them outside.
Dig like half inch into the ground and lay down some habitat.
Then put in the mushrooms.

Those look more like Ps. Cyanescens than cubes.
If they are Ps. Cyanescens then they won't be worth your trouble to grow indoors.

Good to know, will do! I think I'll hold on to a few of them to see how long they'll make it indoors because it seems like they've been doing good so far.

Those look like cyans. I would recommend cloning one of those to agar, expanding that, making slurry, get a bunch of mulch, make a nice mulch/sticks/black berry bramble mixture, and then dump the slurry in it. There was a guy here that did an awesome outdoor cyan garden. The amount of mulch you have in the pics isn't going to suffice for a grow. Any way you want to do it, you'll definitely need to expand. Probably won't see the results this year, but if you hurry up and get to work, you can inoculate your whole back yard and have a legit cyan patch by next years season. Somewhere around sept/Oct probably. Hope you make the right choices. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the help. How do I go about cloning agar? Sorry if there's a post about agar already but I couldn't find any good info. I chopped up the mulch from a dead tree and planted some of the mushrooms.(pic at the bottom) As for the rest of them, I was thinking I could fill a big tote with coffee grounds and banana peels and mulch and then plant the mushrooms or mushroom agar. If mushroom season is ending then maybe I'll have more luck growing them in my garage. And if so would I want to feed them anything or give them water?

This would be a good place to start to know what to do. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23008066/fpart/1
Start there, and if there is anything you don't understand, then use key words in the search feature to dive deeper into that unknown category.

So you found a random mushroom, thought it was a cube, and without getting
it identified first, you decided to eat it? That's a great way to get
yourself really sick or even killed...

You are so lucky they turned out to be an active species...

So lucky it was an edible species. Just a bonus that it was active

Good to know. I think I'll go back to where the original patch is and take some more of the colonized woodchips to grind in a blender. Then I'll put the ground slurry in a flower pot and plant the rest of my mushrooms.hopefully they don't get infected because the caps are getting a darker greenish brown color in spots and it seems like cyans should be a light yellow-brown. Would they be better in my garage or my room? Room is warm and garage is freezing cold.  I'll be sure to update photos as things progress. Oh and I definitely don't condone eating unidentified mushrooms, these are from a friends patch, who had already tripped with them. Knew they were psychedelic, just didn't know the strain.

Sorry I guess this just didn't directly translate to "it was my friends
patch who has already tripped on them"

I'll just move them into a bigger pot, leave them in the garage, see what happens. I'll be sure and post photos if they make it!
