Oyster mushrooms?
    #23851122 - 11/20/16 11:00 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Came across these today in the Northeast uk. Suspect these might be oyster mushrooms.

Also, are these chicken of the woods or an orange variety of turkey tail? Also, don't think these are edibles but quite large mushrooms forming a fairy ring. Sorry for the quality of pics. My camera doesn't do well in low light conditions

Possibly. Close up gill shots and a description would have helped.

The orange one is on the tip of my tongue, I'll have to dig in my memory for the name though.

The last ones are likely a Clitocybe sp.

I'd say the top pics are most likely Oysters... color, size, shape and habitat all look like a match.  If you plan on eating em' just to be on the safe side might want to post a couple close up pics after you collect them and get a definite id.

So I've went and picked those potential oyster mushrooms and have tried to get some better shots of their gills etc. Thinking of eating them so thought I better double check on here that I do indeed have an edible... they smell kind of sweet too.

1) Melt a few tbsp butter

2) Toss mushrooms in melted butter

3) Put in a Pyrex together with chopped shallots and bake in oven until golden

4) pour over cream, salt and pepper to taste

Exchange butter with sunflower or grapeseed oil and cream with oat/soy cream for vegan/dairy free meals.
