Outdoor Patch with Spent Substrate (Q) * 1
    #23851064 - 11/20/16 10:35 AM (8 years, 1 month ago)

After my second flushes, I usually take my spent substrate and half-ass them, by just crumbling it into the dirt on an outside patch, wet it, and I usually get more fruits after a few days.  Now, I willike to put a little more effort into it.

After hosing it down, ive read that a tarp should be put over the patch to control RH.  As well as putting a casing on it after the mycellium begins to penetrate the surface.

Can this be confirmed, and what else can be done to maximize crop output on outside patches with spent substrate

i like to mix spent substrate and/or contaminated jars with CVG or horse manure/vermiculite (no need to pasteurize) at about 1:1 ratio.  Covering the patch for about 4-5 days with a tarp helps the mycellium get a stronghold on the area, then once uncovered i'll add a 1/4 inch 50/50 casing layer to the patch which is mostly white by this point.  Usually works great even with really moldy jars or triched out substrate (that is, when i can find a spot where moles aren't around to come and tear the shit out of the patch...damn them all to hell :crankey:)
