So the first appearance of growth.
I am working on black agar as i find it superb for seeing exactly whats on the surface.
Update-

I was wondering what i should do now? I can start to see the edges and i was considering doing further agar plates.
Please advise.

Yeah i will do. Have a few plates i had to use the sandwich tek on as there was some contam on the plate, once they start to take off i will pop them on here as well.
One of the plate has there inoculation points but i cant get any decent pics of it yet.

What do you use to make black agar? What kind of container are you using for that culture?

The containers are oval pp5 food containers. They fit perfectly stacked in the PC i own so no wasted space.
The agar i make myself so i add black food colouring before the agar is PC'd.

This an update from one of my plates which was from a contaminated plate.
I have just noticed a blemish in the bottom left and i am worried this may be another contamination.
Any advise?
Please.

Take the transfer now haha it would have turned green already shit in agar shows almost instantly .. if ever you see something pop up do a transfer furthest away from the nastie or if its really fucked and you wanna save the culture do a sandwich by dropping a piece of agar over top the myc will colonize through but the contam wont majority of the time

Are you meaning picture two?
What are your thoughts on the mycelium growth?
Is it normal to have that transparant growth?

So a harder agar would be better?
Also was wondering about lighting.
How much light should the plates be getting?

I didnt say it was better but two table spoons is like 2.5 grams give or take if you get the sticks of agar like i do there is 2 10gram syicks in a pack ... just saying your agar is really soft not really sure if its good or bad 10 grams os still pretty soft on 1liter i use that on spores ... for lighting i have my agar in the same room as tubs and so they get 12 on 12 off which is beneficial but not a deal breaker

What type of lighting though? Normal bulbs?
Or would daylight be ok. Was wondering if lighting would make the plates grow better.
I get the sticks of agar.have to cut them up with scissors.

How do you dissolve all the agar properly?
I find several bits do not dissolve.
