Nights or mornings?

What's your pick for work. From 16-22 I always worked nights. 5-1ish. I'm an insomniac. It's now 4:15 am my time.
Since moving to Washington I have always been made to work mornings. One of my first jobs here was at a crab plant. Wake up at 4:35 to walk to the bus. I always get tired and finally fall asleep 45 minutes before. And wake up 15 minutes late. I have a great internal clock I am generally within +-5 minutes. I just guess when people ask or when I wake up than check my phone. Nailed it.
I'd generally have to keep myself awake. Nap for 2-3 hours when I got home. That was my sleep cycle. I also fell asleep on the toilet 4 times. Boss wasn't even mad. It happens to all of us. Literally everyone has similar stories. Couldn't keep my eyes open.
I'm not a morning person at all. My mornings are generally after 1. I take whatever offers me money but I'm always concerned. I'll have my phone, tablet, and alarm clock set. I can be a heavy sleeper but I hear everything and anything wakes me up. There's not much that happens around me that I don't know about. Than it's another 2 hours mulling through my thoughts trying to sleep. Talking to myself.
Morning or night?

When you work nights and want a social life you either become a zombie that never sleeps, feeling like you're dying, or just don't. And probably still sleep like shit.
So yeah, days.

Ya I feel ya. I do enjoy mornings for that. But as I said I feel awake but only maybe get a couple hours of rest. It's now 5:48. I'm taking a little savatical as I just worked all summer in Montana and got back to Washington a couple weeks ago.
I'd go into work right now though. Happy cheerful. Get invited to do something after work sure! 10 rolls around its Friday! Let's party!
Maybe get 8 hours of sleep but Im waking up every 2 hours. M-F that 2 hour nap is the only thing I run off. Back at it. I can run on very small amounts of sleep. Waking me up is the hardest part when I finally run myself out of fumes and my brain shuts itself off and makes me literally dead to the world.
I'm super cheerful about all of it. I do feel tired all the time but working and talking to people invigorate me. I'm not going to not be social and I do love working doesn't really matter what I do I like being useful. And I like money as I need it to support myself. Play a full court game of basketball?! Absolutely let's go!!
But I'm mostly talking about restaurant nights. So 4-11 or so. Than I stay up til about 3-4. Sleep til about 12-1. Those were the hours I was mostly referring to and what I worked for 7 years. The mornings threw off that schedule but I still activate at those cycles.
I look at the clock and say oh it's only 1 I still got a while until bed. But im an insomniac I've been trying for 4 years and can get in a semi groove with mornings but that's just myself getting used to a couple hours of sleep.

I had a 3rd degree burn when I was in middle school. Those stupid loops on pants that seemed to be popular for no reason in the late 90's.
Hooked our wood stoves opening handle and swung my arm directly into it. I pulled away and it swung me back into it. Probably one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. Parents just threw neosporin and a bandage on it. Oddly enough I don't have a scar from it. I'm disappointed about that it was gnarly as fuck I was hoping for all that discomfort I'd gone through I'd at least get a sweet scar. Chick's dig scars.

Usually sun up to sun down is my schedule. Not as many hours in the winter usually. Usually in bed and asleep by 830 or 9. Sometimes I can stay up til 10:30 if I really try to stay awake. On my days off I'm lucky to sleep in til 8, but that is rare most of the time I wake up at 5 or 6 on my own. My job is extremely physically demanding especially if I'm doing a roof in the summer. Hauling shingles and laying them down on a 110 degree roof really takes it out of you. I can drink close to a case of water throughout the day and will still be dehydrated until the next morning and that's if I slam liquids all night when I finish work. Gotta be careful roofing if you don't keep up with your liquids heat stroke and severe dehydration is a very real possibility. I've been lucky and only got sick a few times working in these conditions. I don't take many breaks at all either, the faster I get the roof done the more money me and my crew make.
Luckily we are able to space roofs out and do siding or deck jobs in between which is still bad but not as bad as roofing. After two or three weeks of straight roofing it really leaves you battered and physically and mentally exhausted. But I make decent money so I got to keep on trucking because my kids need food and lots of toys. I try to get them what they want as long as they are grateful and help with chores and sometimes help me work. As long as they don't feel entitled and spoiled I try to get them the things they ask for if its not too extravagant.

Geez ya roofing is hard work. Tore the roof that had 5 layers of shingles on it. Stacked up. Apparently instead of fixing what was wrong they just put a new layer on. All tar and heavy. I got my summer tan in 2 days baking on the roof.
I do not envy roofers at all. I am relatively afraid of heights. I can climb rock faces and dangle my feet sitting 2000 feet above the ground not a car in the world. but ladders I don't like. Medium sized house so it was whatever and grippy footing. I passed out immediately after eating when I got home. I would definitely not want to do that 5 days a week.

Ah your right. Indeed it was a question with 2 options. But I would've forgotten stal than my poll would become invalid.

I used to be a night person until this past year. There's not many good jobs at night.
I'm definitely not a morning person, but after I get my shower and coffee I'm usually ok. If I don't have to get up for something I usually will lay in bed for a couple hours before I do anything.
Used to rarely go to bed before sunrise, now I rarely get up past sunrise. I like my current hours alot better. I think alot of it had to do with liking that quiet time alone, but too much of that is no good really. It stops being fun after a while.
Also I don't care how much you like the night, working a night job for too long will wear you down mentally and physically.

Haha ya I'm always the first person in my area to have a tan, other then those people who go to tanning beds. The sun definitely cooks you a lot harder on a roof then on the ground. And 5 layers is pretty crazy I wouldn't want to do that tear off, that's a crap load of weight on that roof. You can 2 layers in my area but no more then that but some people do. I did a porch roof years ago with 7 layers and that was crappy. It wasn't very big though still took a good bit of time to tear off.
Roofing does get easier as your muscles adjust to it but if you do it too long it will just beat you up too much. One year my area had a big hail storm and insurance companies where handing out checks like candy for new roofs. That summer sucked it was roof after roof after roof and it was even worse that I was working for another guy and only got paid like 10 bucks an hour. After that year I went into business for myself, no more of that slave wage for back breaking labor.

Haha ya. My friend and I ended up hooking up with these 2 cuties as the house is in a great location. Very well traveled street.
We were guzzling water fuck it's so hot out and shed our shirts. We run into these 2 random girls at the bar. We actually drove by twice. So roofing does have its perks.
And shit your telling me. This was in Butte Montana. 5500 feet above sea level. Hella close to the sun.
It was hard. Really hard. Not fun. It took 2 8 hour days. But one side we had a dump truck we could just push it off into it. The other side we'd just relatively aim and clean up later. Usually just hitting that side in an area we could quickly dispatch of it.
I jumped many times into a thing filled with nails sticking up. Eh good enough I'd rather do that than climb down a ladder.

Last project I worked on before I left. My friend owns his own business as a contractor. He's talented at what he does. I learned along with. A lot of fun. Pictures are out of order but we were the talk of the town. Lots of older Butte people stopping by.
I've been saying for years that garage needs to be raised. I may go back next year as he's getting a lot of calls for business. I'm more of a support. I'm not an expert in this field it at all. But I'm willing to learn. And I pick things up fast. I did the left corner of the siding of the garage myself as he just taught me as we did the rest of it.
You got it I have to run some errands. Sure easy. Measured it out. All good nice work. I enjoy building things. It's cool to go by something and say. I helped do that.

Looks like pretty good work there. Concrete is another hard as hell job, I tend to stay away from that when working for other people, I ll lay it for my own house or a relatives but i haven't done enough to do for other people. One thing about doing this kind of work is you learn a lot and it's a good skill to know. You can save a ton of money fixing your own stuff yourself rather then hiring a contractor.
And another thing about doing this work is it seems to get your testosterone flowing. When I was younger me and my co workers would go to a bar after a week of roofing and act like we owned the place, and I'm not really one to act like that. Just the feeling of knowing you worked harder then anyone else in that bar and feeling like you hit the gym for 8 hours a day everyday (which is pretty is actually pretty similar) just makes you feel great, like your a machine. However that's not always the case and necessarily true but it does make you feel great. Women seem to pick up on it also, perhaps it's the confidence or testosterone or pheromones or what not. But if you do it everyday it's gonna catch up to you sooner or later and create quite a few aches and pains.
One bad thing though is trying to find people to work. There's been so many people that worked for 3 days and then never came back. It was just too much for them I suppose. A lot of people think they can do it easily until they actually do do it and realize, "shit I don't like hard work, I guess I ll go back to my customer service job". And I pay people well too, better then most other contractors in my area.

Some places offer a pretty decent night premium. I'd take a night shift for an extra $2-3/hr.

Fuck I got 15 it was me and my friend. A lot of heavy lifting a lot of work. Hauled tons of concrete from the 3 other panels of sidewalk we did as they were cracked and sidewalks are owner responsibility not city.
Exhausting. I can do concrete but fuck even getting paid a fair wage it was not worth it. His brother and dad helped for the pours. His dad mostly just checked in as he kind of knew what needed to be done but he'd just point out you still need this this this.
His brother did the edging and helped spread. I mostly did spreading and skreeing. That's hard work as well. But it turned out great. We resided the shit we had to take off to raise the garage and to give us room to work.
It was a project for sure. I learned a lot. Lot of fun though. I know more about concrete than I ever wanted to know. Was walking down the road the other day and there was a square form and rebar. Ah looks like there putting in a foundation.

Both. What I am not tho is a mid day person, from 12:00pm to like 5:00pm u can go fuck urself.. That's my motto..
Love mornings, but after it gets to like 11am then the parties all over, the birds stop signing and there's just an empty space.. I think it's cuz that was usually when I'd be at school and I hated school, so it still kinda makes me depressed..

I'm an insomniac. My thoughts keep me awake. For hours. Every girl I've ever dated and every friend I've ever had claims they are insomniacs. I don't think they truly understand what that means. In 15 minutes they fall asleep. Alright i'ma watch another movie.
I didn't sleep last night. I'm wide awake. Drank a cup of coffee Seahawks game at 1:2p.. I walked up to the store and chit chatted with a couple randos about the hawks. I think I may have made a friend
Well I do any where I go. I can't sleep with light unless I'm dead tired. This was easy. I'm guessing about 8 tonight sleep. But that's always easy not to do. But I do need to reset my schedule. I have important things to do

Neither!
I dont like mornings or nights. I work nights and staying up sucks. u kinda get used to it, but when u are super tired, its very hard to stay awake.
i prefer swing shift, start at 4pm or 2pm or 3pm. Best of both worlds

I generally just crash out. I don't really have an Oh it's bedtime switch. I can get 2 hours of sleep and be wide awake all day. Than shit it's 5 am again already. Well gotta get ready for work.
I use reverse psychology on myself to fall asleep. Well alright then guess your going to stay up. That generally works. Well the only thing I've found that does. Trazadone knocks me the fuck of out as well. But I hate sleeping pills as I'm just groggy as all shit in the morning.

this.
right now I do the 9-5. It's okay. 10-6 would be better. No matter how much sleep I get it's just super hard for me to wake up before 8.
