First ever agar inoculation.
Wish me luck.
Any last minute tips? Starting in 20 mins. Gonna slice wedges. Gonna just use the colonized parts, correct? Flame some sterilize in between jars too yeah?

Yes, colonized parts only. The more colonized agar you use the faster the growth in your jars.
I like to use 1/4 to 1/2 of colonized agar dishes per quart.

Flaming you scalpel between every jar is just gonna rile the air up more coming in and out, maybe half way through if you feel you need to, or if your changing cultures

Don't work with all that shit on top of your SAB. Every time you set something on there, you'll be dropping spores into your work area.

Found this neat scalpel
To use to harvest dense clusters like this

And it works like a champ! It's probably bent at about a 65° angle or so. Perfect for getting down into the base where a pair of scissors or fingers just can't make it.

I dunno about that.
Don't feel good about it. Glad I didn't put all my eggs in one basket. Don't know about the micropore either. Didn't occur to me to cut smaller wedges until halfway through my round. So only three got a few small wedges. The other three got one large wedge. Added another layer of micropore over the double layer micropore, and immediately moved them from this large SAB to a small one to colonize in.
Man. I don't feel good about this. I dunno. Think the LI would've been much easier.
Still got the z strain and KSSS to use LI for.
Worst case scenario, surely one of these six will be great and I can use it for a master.

Good idea. I have to give this a try.
Moab: It is normal to be nervous the first time using agar to inoculate. As fast and as clean as possible. You can do it!

Wild pine polypore clone progress. The original plates are all fucked with mold and bacteria but I got some clean transfers going! It's not speedy but still nowhere as slow as the wild shaggy parasol clone I'm working on.

Boring but I'm spending my evening converting this area into a mono fruiting area (left) and a spawn colonization room (right). Carpet is regrettable, fighting with plastic wall lining
